Part 12 - So brij & geet were going to Darjeeling to tell about the divorce and bring her back to Mumbai. There they met tara. Both brij & tara were shocked to see each other. Tara still loves him. Geet understood that they should talk once and left them there & went alone.
How can she thought that whether tara loved him truly. As brij did, she too did marry for her family sake. A girl can not go against her family easily. It requires lot of courage. Hope both have good convo bet them.Oh...maan & geet met again.

Part 13 - Liked the both convos. First brij-tara were knowing about each other. Liked tara's answer when brij asked about was she happy with her husband. All she said 'she was not unhappy'. She wanted him to marry someone and find some happiness.
Maan was surprised that geet knows who he is. He asked about her. She told that she met his wife. She feels guilty for being the reason of their divorce. She flet like she was also like meera. Liked the way maan made her understand. They would have taken divorce even though Darjeeling was not happened. He came to know that geet was brij's baby sister and feared what happens once brij came to know about them. So will maan meet muskan, he would love to meet her though.Happy New Year to you also.

Amazing update. Geet met Maan again. He offered her to come with him to Darjeeling. She called him Mr. Khurana. Maan asked her how she knew him. She told him about her meeting with Sameera. Maan asked about Brij being her brother. They talked about their feelings about that night they spent together.
Brij and Naintara expressed their feelings.

Part 14
The Journey of lifetime
Geet was frustrated. She had always had a little impatient streak buried in her. Her job on the contrary required a lot of patience. So whenever she is outside the immediate reality of her life her impatience shows itself.
"You are not very patient are you?"
Geet smiled briefly as the deep baritone questioned her.
"My job requires my patience and I can be sometimes but patience is not one of my virtues though I can hide that fact pretty well."
"It makes me wonder Geet, how come someone so inherently impatient can hold on to shambles of her marriage for as long as you had?"
And just like that the playfulness of the conversation was gone. Geet herself had wondered many times along the same lines. Maybe she was not that impatient after all. Looking at Maan she found nothing but genuine curiosity in his eyes.
"I don't know Maan. I guess love makes us do wonders. And for most part of my marriage I was blissfully unaware that my marriage was in shambles. The day I came to know I let it break so I wasn't really very patient with my marriage."
"I disagree Geet."
"What do you disagree about Maan?"
"I am no one to comment about your marriage. I believe that no one other than the people in the marriage know much about a particular marriage. But I do know the feel of being married. Yes, I agree that you had been unaware of the affair your ex-husband was having. But I am sure that you weren't unaware of the underlying issue of your marriage. I believe that breaking of a marriage of years takes much more than a few days. So yes, for someone of little patience you had held onto your marriage quiet remarkably."
Geet pondered about Maan's words. It was still early morning and the sun is still not out. They had hired a cab from NJP station and were on their way to Darjeeling. However as fate would have it, there was a landslide. Though there had been no damage so to speak but the road was blocked.
All the traffic both ways was at stand still waiting for the roadblocks to be cleaned away so they can start making their journey. This waiting for unknown amount of time had Geet frustrated to start with.
"I don't know Maan. I guess I knew that my marriage had problems but I never thought such far reaching consequences. And now I am left picking up the pieces. Dev was supposed to be here with me as we explain things to Muskaan together but he said he couldn't come due to some unavoidable situations. I don't believe him a bit. But, now am left with dealing with a six year old about divorce and its implication and for the love of God I have no idea what to say her. Six year olds are supposed to worry about monster under beds and stuffs like that. How am I to explain her all this?"
Maan watched Geet. He could understand the dilemma Geet was in. How can you explain someone so young about a concept so alien?
He could see Geet getting visibly upset and he just held her in a side hug providing what tad bit support he could. Geet held on to him with much force. They had got down from their car and had taken to walk through the sides enjoying the chilly weather and beauty of the Himalayas. The foggy morning obscured the view enough for them to have little bit privacy.
"It is probably the toughest task you have ever done Geet. And I can't really help you out. Only child in my life had been my sister Annie and even then Daadima handled her. But I am there for you and would help you anyway you want."
Geet watched him. This man had absolute no reason for being there for her yet here he was once again helping her in her worst phase.
"You are a good man, Maan. "
"I doubt. I have done my own set of mistakes I can't undo."
There was a strange silence before Geet looked up. Hazel met brown and they were almost probing each other's soul.
"The fact that you know that you made mistakes make you better man than many, Maan."
The silence between them stretched a bit before the first golden ray of sun touched them as the sun peaked out in between the mountains. Maan smiled acknowledging her complement. The distant roars of traffic made them travel back to their cab.
Once settling inside the cab Maan asked the most unexpected question.
"Geet, do you think my being there would help you telling Muskaan? I can be there in that case."
Geet was amazed as he offered her his help.
"Frankly I don't know if that is the right approach. Muskaan needs to know very strongly that even if the family is broken permanently she has and will always have her mother with her. She might take it wrongly if another man comes with her mother."
Maan could see the apprehension in Geet's eyes but her protective mother inside her made Maan respect her even more.
"You can introduce me as Brij's friend. That way muskaan won't have to deal with another person in her mother's life. And it's not a complete lie is it? I am a friend of Brij's even if that's not how we met. In a different world, that was how we were supposed to meet Geet."
Geet was silent. What Maan said was true. And even if she had, would things have changed or would she still feel this forbidden attraction for this man?
"I am waiting for that response of yours Miss Handa!"
Geet smiled at his mischievous voice and replied in the same tone.
"I am still thinking about it Mr. Khurana."
The naughty smile soon turned into full blown laughter. The silence, the chilly foggy morning, the greenery and the curves of the road were soon vibrated with the laughter of the duo.
"So seriously Geet... what do you think about the plan?"
Once they had controlled their laughter Geet understood that if she agreed to this plan that also would mean that Maan would be an inevitable part of her life. Obviously Brij and pari would come to know about this unintended meeting. But she was feeling extremely lonely and was greedy for this support Maan provided.
"Are you sure Maan? You being there today means you would have to be there at least for next few months. Of course it depends on how Muskaan would react but I feel that she would cling to you more."
"How are you so sure Geet? It can be just the opposite. Muskaan might really hate my presence."
"I doubt. I am her mother. I know tad bit about her. And something is there about you, I can't explain but it helps provide security to people around you. I am not a person who confides her life story to a stranger Maan. Yet that night I spilled the beans. I am sure you would work you charisma on Muskaan too."
"You didn't tell me everything that night Geet."
"You didn't either. But we told what mattered. I told about Dev's betrayal and you spoke about Sam's. Though, I did misunderstand Sam that night. It was just when I met Sam in person I realized what an amazing lady she is."
"She is...isn't she?"
There was a strange wistfulness in Maan's voice.
"You love her Maan. After listening to both of you, I felt that if you both had fought enough for your marriage then you wouldn't have needed the divorce."
Maan was looking outside through the windows. Looking back with a sad smile he nodded his head in negative.
"The fact that we didn't fight tells you everything Geet. If I let her go so easily it means that she wasn't the one for me. I think that if it was truly something stronger I would have fought tooth and nail for it."
Geet nodded even if she didn't agree with Maan.
"Geet why you didn't tell me anything about Muskaan that night?"
"You really want to know the answer to that one?"
"Why would I question you if I didn't want the answer?"
"Sometimes we question for the sake of question but are afraid of the answers. In this case actually I am afraid of answer."
"In that case, I want the answer provided you are okay with answering it."
Geet was silent for some moment before her facial expression turned to that of a strange determination.
"I was very angry that night Maan. I had trusted Dev so much and even Meera. They both broke me and for once I wanted to forget everything related to my marriage, even muskaan."
A tear dropped from her eyes as she remembered being insanely selfish.
"You know Maan, I am never supportive of drinking. In fact I can hardly hold my drink. I just came out of that suffocating apartment and started drinking wine. And I met you; a man I thought then was similarly betrayed as me. And for once I wanted to forget it all. Whatever happened then wouldn't have happened if I had allowed myself to be muskaan's mother. I couldn't have decided on a divorce if I had been Muskaan's mother. It is so insanely selfish that I hate myself for it but I can't be dev's wife. So you understand, that night you met only Dev's wife and not Muskaan's mother."
She started crying and Maan held her in his arms. His support made it all the more hard and she buried her face into his chest and cried earnestly. Once her crying subsided a bit Maan wiped away her tears and made her face him. Looking straight into her eyes he spoke.
"Geet, you are not selfish. Yes, you wanted to stop being mother for a short while but then you are allowed to do that. I can't even begin to comprehend the trauma of the betrayal of your husband. You both were childhood friends and not to mention almost married for ten years by then. You needed to unwind a bit. So what if for one night you lived just as a betrayed wife? You never let it affect your and Muskaan's relationship. And frankly it was better you guys were divorced."
"What do you mean?"
"Do you honestly think you could have played happy family for Muskaan while hating Dev so much? I agree that I and Sam maintain a cordial relationship till date but that's because we respect each other. How can you and Dev have anything cordial much less co-habit if you don't respect him?"
"So what you are trying to tell me is that I did the right thing even if I did it in a wrong way?"
"Right and wrong depends on perspective doesn't it? And sometimes what we do is beyond right and wrong. That night was as such. I am not a man who indulges in any kind of one night stands. I believe physical intimacy to be strictly linked with emotional involvement. So what happened that night was wrong. "
"Well I kind of forced you."
"No you didn't. I wasn't as drunk as you and I can hold my alcohol quite well. Whatever happened, I was an indulgent partner in crime. But do you think it was wrong?"
"It's hard to answer with a yes or no. When I think about Sam I feel myself no better than Meera yet that night had a strange purity about it."
"My exact feelings, Geet. It was wrong. I was still married to Sam and what I did was morally wrong yet it feels right somehow. That's why I said that sometimes some things are beyond right or wrong."
They both looked out the opposite windows trying to process their feelings. Maybe they were not right that night but they weren't wrong either.
"Hmm."
There was silence again before Maan spoke.
"You know the way you are so protective about Muskaan has me envied."
"Envy? I hardly am someone to envy upon."
"I wish Sam had been like that. I wish she had been a mother who would do anything to protect her child."
"You can't compare us like that. We both are different people with different thinking. "
"I know. But it pains me even today thinking about that incident. That is another reason I went on with the divorce. I don't think I could ever forgive something like that."
"You truly wanted to have a kid, right?"
"Honestly... We hadn't planned anything... we didn't even talk about something like this. But when I came across the report it was like a dream I never knew I had was broken away."
"Would you listen to something I say?"
"Depends on what it is."
"Forgive her."
"Is it that easy?"
"No, it is not easy. But if you don't forgive you would remain stuck right there."
"Can you forgive Dev or even Meera for that matter?"
Geet was silent.
"Giving advice is easy Geet. Following the advice is difficult. If you can forgive Dev then we are going to have this chat again but till then I will hold my grudge against Sam."
The journey was continuing but the two inside sat in stoic silence. They had met first time when they knew nothing about each other yet at this point they seemed to have more space between them than when they had been strangers.
