Well, it's so great to see Alka Yagnik in the mix once again. Her last nomination was 7 years ago for another A.R. Rahman composition "Tu Muskura" (Yuvvraaj, 2008).
Also, she now further extends her lead for most nominations in this category with a total of 36.
And another record, the 34 years between her first and latest nomination is the longest span of any singer male or female.

Shreya Ghoshal earns her 20th nomination, which ties her in 2nd place (alongside Asha Bhosle) on the list for most nominations. She will very likely surpass Bhosle (who along with her sister Lata Mangeshkar have self-eliminated their names from the category in the '70s in order to promote new talent).

I am really surprised to see Anusha Mani there. Especially over the super amazing vocal performance by Rekha Bhardwaj in "Judaai" (Badlapur).
