  • 2016
    • Alka Yagnik - "Agar Tum Saath Ho" - Tamasha
    • Anusha Mani - "Gulaabo" - Shaandaar
    • Monali Thakur - "Moh Moh Ke Dhage" - Dum Laga Ke Haisha
    • Shreya Ghoshal - "Deewani Mastani" - Bajirao Mastani
    • Palak Muchhal - "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" - Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
    • Priya Saraiya - "Sun Saathiya" - ABCD 2

Well, it's so great to see Alka Yagnik in the mix once again. Her last nomination was 7 years ago for another A.R. Rahman composition "Tu Muskura" (Yuvvraaj, 2008).
Also, she now further extends her lead for most nominations in this category with a total of 36.
And another record, the 34 years between her first and latest nomination is the longest span of any singer male or female.

-
Shreya Ghoshal earns her 20th nomination, which ties her in 2nd place (alongside Asha Bhosle) on the list for most nominations. She will very likely surpass Bhosle (who along with her sister Lata Mangeshkar have self-eliminated their names from the category in the '70s in order to promote new talent).
-
I am really surprised to see Anusha Mani there. Especially over the super amazing vocal performance by Rekha Bhardwaj in "Judaai" (Badlapur).

Pretty weird to see Anusha Mani in the list. She hardly had lines in Gulaabo but that one line of hers somehow takes the song to another level along with the following fast music.

My bets are on Monali. This might just be her second filmfare. She anyways has been winning the other awards this year.

And frankly, I love Agar Tum Saath Ho more for the music than Alka Yagnik's voice.

Neeti Mohan for Dhadaam Dhadaam getting snubbed is the biggest disappointment.
From the nominees, I'd like to see Shreya or Alka or Monali win, in that order.

From 2015
1)alka yagnik --- agar tum saath ho ..just wow and exceptional
2)shreya ghosal --- I would prefer mohe rang do laal than deewani mastani...it's pure classical and difficult to sing.
3)priya --- sun saaathiya...again wow but not on par with above
4)neeti mohan --- dhadaam dhadaam and naak pe gussa...wow
5)monali thakur --- not on par with above..just good for me.

6)Gerua song female voice was too good as well...
7) chittiyan kalaiyaan

Rooting for Monali.

Sun Saathiya, the autotune, the heaviness of the machine singing is not my cup of tea. Good song but not good singing.
