Shweta, who is separated from her husband, says Pulkit Samrat can never be involved with Ms Gautam

In November 2014, actor Pulkit Samrat got married to his long-time girlfriend Shweta Rohira amid grand celebrations. Shweta's rakhi brother Salman Khan was also present at the wedding. However, last November, the duo separated. While there have been reports of Pulkit getting close to Yami Gautam, his co-star of two films Junooniyat and Sanam Re, Shweta firmly believes that the two are not having an affair.

Is there any chance of a reconciliation between you and Pulkit Samrat?

Pulkit and I haven't talked to each other about it, so I don't want to discuss it.

What went wrong between the two of you?

We always loved each other, but eight months after the marriage he said he wanted to separate. The reason he gave me was his family. I didn't see it coming. I had given him a manual of how to be a perfect son-in-law to my parents and he had given me one about being the perfect daughter-in-law. But I guess there was something wrong with his manual.

There were reports of him being involved with Yami Gautam...

(Cuts in) That is ridiculous. I know my husband and Yami is the last person he would want to be involved with. In fact, he didn't even want to do films with her " he has acted with better actresses. Eight years ago, he had done a music video with her and at that time he wasn't even talking to her. Yami always had her eyes on him, but Pulkit never had the hots for her. Even now when he was offered Junooniyat and Sanam Re he did not want to do them. It was I who told him it's okay to do Junooniyat with her. In Sanam Re, initially, another girl (a friend of mine) was considered, but at the last minute it fell through and Yami came on board. But I had loved the story and had full faith in Divya (Kumar, director), so I insisted that Pulkit do the film. I know that there is nothing going on between them.

Didn't Pulkit move out of the house to stay with Yami?

No. I moved out of the house to stay with my parents. And Pulkit is the last person to move into anyone's house as he is pretty well off. Also, why would he, when he has his own house here and in Delhi?

Pulkit has said that he will spend Valentine's Day with Yami as well as the producer and director of his film...

Exactly. The film is releasing on February 12 and even if were together he would have spent it with them. However, a section of media has picked up only a part of his statement (of spending Valentine's Day with Yami) and is making a big deal about it.

Have you seen the trailer of Sanam Re?

Yes, and I loved it. Divya has shot it beautifully and Pulkit is looking hot as usual. When Pulkit was offered the film we were talking about getting married. I had heard a song from the film which moved me to tears. That's when I told him he should do the film as my wedding gift. I have stopped eating sugar for over an year as part of my mannat. Maine mannat maangi hai that Pulkit's film should do a business of '100 crore. When that happens I will start eating sugar.

Salman Khan is your rakhi brother. Has he talked to you about a reconciliation?

The marriage was between Pulkit and me, why should anyone be in the picture? Bhai has the same emotions that a brother has. My parents and grandparents are there and the topic is discussed, but I personally want to first talk to Pulkit before discussing it with anyone.

You don't seem to be bitter or cynical..

No. I believe everything is temporary and I am taking one day at a time.
