.I just tried to sit home and get through with most films of 2015
Very disappointing year indeed
I'd seen at least 9 films in cinemas including Badlapur, ABCD2, TWMR, DDD, Phantom, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, PRDP, Dilwale & Bajirao Mastani
Here's what I thought of it compared to many members on IF.
Badlapur - Liked it but unsure at same time. Am a Varun fan and enjoyed his performance along with superb cast of Nawaz, Huma, Radhika, Yami & Divya. But yeah the climax gave me a mixed feeling regarding the impact that the film should have left on me. 3.5/5
Roy - Only watched it for music and that's the only good thing about it. Unfortunately who came up with such a story. Meh. Ranbir, Arjun & Jacky were alright tho. 1.5/5
Baby - Decent watch. Akshay, Taapsee, Rana were good. Concept was alright. However it wasn't what you'd expected from the trailer. Love movies on terrorism hence I enjoyed it. 3/5
Piku - MEH. Boring. Lame. Didn't relate nor enjoy it. Sort of reminded me of characters from Little Miss Sunshine. Never got about Shoojit's films. Liked none of his films so far. Overhyped. I know this forum loves it but I couldn't understand what was so great about it. DP & Big B's performances were nothing all that. 2/5
Gabbar is Back - Concept was okay. I mean it's a remake but yeah protagonist going by villain's name and all that. Again. Typical masala but a decent one. Akshay was really good in it. The guy who played villain sucked. 2.5/5
Tanu Weds Manu Returns - Loved it more than the first one. Hilarious. Kangana is a star. Both her portrayals were so good. Loved her senti drunk dance on Ghani Bawari. Music to cast. All were perfect - 4/5
Dil Dhadakne Do - Thoroughly enjoyed this film. Could relate to the characteristics in the film. I thought it was neatly made. The message at this end was sweet and simple and very clear for conservative parents. Anil and Shefali's performances were legit as. 3.5/5
ABCD 2 - What better leads you can ask for in a youth based dance film. This movie showcased some better dances form than Step Up series. Varuna & Sharaddha were shown as great dancers in the film along with some great train dancers and good music was bonus. Only thing sad remained for me regarding this film was that I got $180 speeding fine while rushing to get cinema. 3/5
Bajrangi Bhaijaan - Easily the best movie of the year. One of the best in this decade. Made me proud as a Salman fan. Performances, story, music, cinematography and direction was top notch. Kabir, Nawaz, Harashali and Salman simply gave us a gem. 5/5
Phantom - Loved this film too. I dunno why this forums seems to hate it but I think it was brilliantly made. Performances was good too. People should stop thrashing the film and go watch it. Pretty daring movie. 4/5
Brothers - W*F was this movie all about? Lame story. Not even a proper remake of Warrior. Performances sucked too. Akshay was alright but rest were unbearable. The cheesy commentators in MMA matches were just plain annoying so cringeworthy that made you miss WWE commentators. Mary song made the movie worse. 1/5
Bahubali - Was pretty late but ended up watching it. Enjoyed it throughly. Prabhas was superb. Became his fan. Don't watch much south films but this was hindi dubbed version. Though I still don't get why they put that horrible item song in there. All the actors seemed pretty good. Mysterious ending made anticipate for sequel. 4/5
Dhrishyam - Yeah it was thrilling but this forum made it out to be some epic thriller. Felt like watching an episode of Crime Patrol. Ajay was good in role tho. 3/5
Singh is Bling - Meh another crappy same old masala dose. Loved the Cinema Dekhe song. 1/5
Shaandaar - Okay most weird film of 2015. Didn't even understand why the characters were as if they were all high as f* throughout the whole film. Few funny scenes tho. Would not believe the guy who made Queen made this shit. 2/5
Kis Kis Ko Pyar Karun - Kapil trynna pull Govinda here. He was funny but movie seemed too outdated. 2/5
Talvaar - Only watched it due to great reviews and indeed a great watch. Irrfan was brilliant. So was Konkona. Hard hitting movie. 4/5
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo - Not as half bad as this forum made it out to be. A Rajshri and Salman fan in me was satisfied. Enjoyed this film. The sets, acting, music and direction was good. Though HAHK, HSSH, MPK were expectations and it wasn't up to that level. Salman as Prem was sweet and enduring. Halo Re and PRDP title track were so beautiful songs. 3.5/5
Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 - Dd not see the prequel but this one was sure relatable and very much enjoyable. All 3 story were so realistic in a way. People found it sexist but at least this film spoke a guy's perspective where as most guys are framed as manipulative ones in relationships - 4/5
Tamaasha - WAtched 15 minutes and had enough. š but music was sure saving grace. 0.5/5
Hate Story 3 - Another trashy shit. Loved the music though. 1/5
Dilwale - Was not as bad as this forum made it out be. But clearly not a good film either. Just another time pass. Rohit Shetty's films don't impress me. 2/5
Bajirao Mastani - OVERRATED. Nothing new or that special. Jodha Akbar 2.0 just with love triangle. Whole movie was decent till last 20 minutes. Just painfully dragged. Hated it the climax. So unrealisitc š 2/5
