Chap 20

The Morning After

It was a cold night in Dharamshala but the temperature in Nandini's room was scorching hot. It was a wild and passionate night when they gave into their desires exploring each other; when entwined hands pressed against the soft mattress; when her moans and his groans were the only sounds piercing the silence of the night; when he kissed her till she lost her senses and when her every moan, her every cry made him fall in love with her more. It was a night they became one; one heart that beat for two; one soul that kept them both alive; it was the night for their love; their one of a kind love.

Nandini was lying on Manik's chest playing with his fingers as he laid soaking in her smell and caressing her hair soaking in her presence. "Manik!" she called him and he just hmmed in response. "why can't I hear your heartbeat?" she asked. Manik smiled and replied "Nandini if you forgot let me remind you I am dead. D.E.A.D so how can you?" Nandini tuned completely up and placed her chin on his chest and asked looking deep into his eyes "So you drink blood kya?" Manik knew once she will discover his reality these questions will follow "yes we do." He sighed and replied. Have you? Have you?" Nandini wanted to ask him something but was stammering Manik lifted her chin and said "yes we drink human blood too but I have never killed any human in my blood lust." Nandini's eyes widened in surprise "can you read minds also? And how do you control yourself around me and everyone else I mean in the college."

Manik sighed "kitne sawla poochti ho. Anyway I love you Nandini so I can never ever even think of harming you or let anyone harm you. And how do I control in front of people well I have been a vampire for 500 years and one thing I learned in these years in how not to lose control. We drink from blood bags and yes I do feed on humans but I don't harm them, I compel them to forget, Dhruv and my parents drink animal blood to but I don't prefer." Manik found Nandini hugging him tightly as he finished, he realized she was scared as all this was very new to her. "Nandini are you fine?" he asked to be sure. "I am fine Manik just trying to make peace with the new realities." Nandini replied and then looking into his eyes she continued "you are allowed; allowed to love Vaidehi. She was your first love like you are mine and I don't want to take that away from her and you."

Manik smiled and in a nanosecond Nandini found herself pinned on bed with Manik on top of her. He looked deep in her eyes and without any warning smashed his lips on hers. He gently sucked and bit her lips forcing her to part. He entered her mouth and explored every bit of it. He kissed, sucked and bit her lips and relishing in them she dug her nails deep in his knuckles moaning in his mouth. After rendering her breathless Manik left her mouth and took her neck. "I hope you got your answer?" Manik answered as he kissed her neck and Nandini smiled still being in deep passion. "Alya!" suddenly Nandini shouted breaking their moment.

She sat uptight and asked Manik "where is Alya? Last I remember her being hit by a wolf and she fell on a rock. Manik is she ok? Where is she? She is the only family I have.." Nandini's voice trailed off as she sat there scared looking for answers. Manik took a deep breath and said "she is fine. I will take her to you." But Nandini realized there was something wrong as he didn't look into her eyes while telling about Alya. As they were about to walk off Nandini held his arm and asked "she is fine right?" Manik pulled her to his car and said "let's go Nandini."

It was almost wee hours of the night. In couple of more hours the dawn was about to break through the horizon. Harshad and his dad laid in the castle cellar. Harshad was the first one to wake up, he found every bone of his body sore from last night's transformation and fight. There were injury marks on his body and he was naked. He looked around and found his bag and got dressed up. He woke up his dad with great difficulty. He sat there defeated when he remembered about his grandfather. They both ran out only to find his dead body on the ground.

"grand pa" Harshad cried as he sat near his body, he was killed by Manik. "I told you Harshad not to involve Nandini, not to mess with Manik. Look what have you done." His father said crying. "And now Manik Malhotra will have to pay for this mistake. Let's go dad we have to cremate him." Harshad said as he picked his dead grandfather in his arms and walked off.

Manik stopped his car in front of Malhotra Mansion and escorted Nandini inside the house. She was a little hesitant in light of new found realities of her life. But Manik took her in a side hug and escorted her in the house. Soon they made their way to the guest room where Alya was still lying unconscious.

"Alya!" Nandini ran to her and hugged her crying all the while. Manik looked at his parents who shook their heads in a negative confirming that she is yet to wake up. Neyonika walked up to Manik and asked "what about Nandini?" "She knows everything about us." Manik replied. "what? Are you in your senses?" Neyonika fumed. "yes I am mom!" Manik looked at her with blood in his eyes and anger in his voice "I love her and I can't and I won't hide anything from her."

Manik and Neyonika's conversation was broken by Nandini. "what happened to her? Why did those wolves attack us and her wound." She caressed Alya's head as she found no wound "Where is the wound I mean I remember I saw her sitting the boulder." She was confused. Manik sat in front of her kneeled down and said "Nandini what I am going to tell next will be very unsettling for you but you have to keep calm and not be scared ok." She nodded in a yes and he continued "last night was full moon night; the night of werewolf transition. Vampires and werewolves have centuries old ememity. We are more powerful than them but a werewolf bite on full moon can kill a vampire."

Nandini was shocked beyond words as Manik paused to and looked in her eyes. "And the wolves that attacked us last night were your friend Harshad and his family." Manik said. "What?" Nandini was shocked. "Harshad is a werewolf but Mukti..Mukti.." she mumbled. "Mukti doesn't know his truth." Manik replied. Just then Alya stirred and woke up.

"Nandu!" Alya called out for her as she woke up but before Nandini could say anything Alya continued "I am thirsty." Nandini quickly moved to get water the Malhotra clan exchanged glances knowing the reason of her thirst. Eww." Alya spilled the water as soon as she took it in. "What happened?' Nandini asked. "I don't know I don't want this Nandini." She then looked at Dhruv and Manik and said "oh great so you both are here. I hope you guys had enough fun drinking my blood and Manik Malhotra my secret boy friend."

Alya's words went in as daggers in Nandini's heart. "secret boyfriend." She mumbled as she looked at Manik who was equally baffled. "she got her memories back." That's all he could say.
