One of the most accurate books about the Chauhan history before/during and after Prithviraj's time is the book Prithviraj-vijay by Jayank who was a Kashmiri poet settled in Ajmer. National Archives in New Delhi has a copy.

Prithviraj had weakened force in the second battle and Ghori who made a pre-dawn attack figured that out. So he immediately gave battle and killed Prithviraj.

It's so strange to see majority of our countrymen/women blaming Jaychand when the poor fellow that nothing to with Prithviraj.

And ofcourse about Bhoja Parmar also please.

A big thank you.

Kaana,

I can write about Chauhans and PRC also. Have finished reading his life history. But, i was thinking to first finish writing the major parts of life history of Maharana Pratap. What say ?

What has been written till now about his life history on the blog, is not even 5% of what more i want to write. Only constraint is time.

Bhoj Parmar - also deserves separate dedicated articles like PRC.

I obtained the photocopy of this book, 1 month back. It is written in Sanskrit language. :)

It does not seems to me that the reason of the loss was weakened force in IInd Battle of Tarain. The main reason was the attack of Ghori before the sunrise.

Yes, i also do not think that PRC's loss was due to Jai Chand. There was no convincing argument. PRC was strong enough to handle them if the war was fought with "honesty".

Why I said weakened force is that 2 of the generals who were present in the I st Battle (probably friends or allies maybe) were not present during the IInd war as they were away fighting the Chandelas near modern day Khajuraho.

This I read when I visited Khajuraho where they have lot of manuscripts and the battle with Chauhan army was mentioned exactly around the time of the IInd Battle. It may or may not have made a difference but the lack of co-ordination among various units in Prithviraj's army during the IInd Battle could have been better managed.

Regarding "honesty", well all I will say that people fight battles to win and one cannot expect the enemy to fight a battle with one's rules.

True, my friend !
The general whose name i have in my mind is Skanda .
Not sure about the other one right now.

You are right about the honesty bit - ethics is rarely found in battles of those times. Though, by Honesty i meant to say a "straight battle" , without employing foul means. :)

I agree with Abhay. It's like killing an enemy while sleeping.
Secondly it was not one's own rules, it was the rule of our glorious land. It had ethics and fair play in everything. Be it the Mahabharata war or till this it was the rule that governed and more importantly complied by the rulers of this land. It's the respect for dharma or fair play that prevailed predominantly. This was valued.
