Hi
all,

The topic of this thread is a bit different and is not related to Maharana Pratap but is closely related to Rajputs in general.

Actually, i have started to post about the history of - Razia Sultan also on the blog. I will be writing a limited number of posts but care has been taken to ensure that the contents are well-researched and accurate.

Before starting with the actual history of Razia Sultan, i have provided a brief background of how the Delhi Sultanate was established because many readers may not be aware of it. This would be helpful in understanding future posts related to Razia Sultan.

The post covers the struggle between the Central Asians and native rulers of Hind {that time it included India and Pakistan together}, from 712 AD to 1192 AD. All the major wars have been included here, and dealt with as much briefly as possible.

The post also covers the contest between the Sultan of Ghazni - Muhammed Ghori and the last Rajput Emperor of Ajmer and Delhi - Prithviraj Chauhan III, as that might interest some of the readers.

The post also gives brief information about the encounters between the ancestors of Prithviraj Chauhan and the rulers of Ghazni.

Pictures of various forts, monuments, coins, rulers, etc. have been included in the article to giving a better understanding of the events.

Due to this reason i am sharing the link of this post here. As you all are Maharana Pratap followers, so i guess, Prithviraj Chauhan will also hold some interest among you all. I have dug up some lesser known details about him and his ancestors.

This is a brief post. In future, i will try to start writing about Prithviraj too.

The Link of the post is :
Struggle before the establishment of Delhi Sultanate

I hope you find this helpful and interesting.

Congrats on the new section - Razia Sultan! So happy to see the blog grow by leaps and bounds in just a year. :)

This curtain raiser post on the events that led to the establishment of the Delhi Sultanate, marking a transition from the Hindu, native Rajput rulers to the Muslim, Arab/Turk rulers, is so wide-sweeping that it will take many readings to understand all the finer details of the geo-politics of that time.

There was definitely a major shake-up of how empires would be acquired and run and also of the culture the common people were exposed to while Hindustan was moving into the medieval era. It would be highly interesting to discuss this tumultuous and event-filled period with history lovers here. :)

Razia Sultan - Just the fact that she was able to break through many barriers and become the first woman ruler of Delhi (even South-East Asia perhaps ?) is enough to fill me with awe and respect for her. She was able to hold her own against brutal men, who didn't spare anyone in their quest for power, for 4 years. It speaks volumes about her capabilities as a sovereign and a power player. Am so looking forward to reading more about this firebrand queen and discussing her rule. :)

Last but not the least, it is gratifying to see so much detail of how Delhi changed with each successive ruler, starting from the Lal Kot of Anangapal.

Thank you for such a lucid and comprehensive post about the setting-up of the Delhi Sultanate!

Kaana,

There is recorded history of struggle of Chauhans after the IInd Battle of Tarain. I have mentioned the son and brother of Prithviraj were ALIVE after the battle. On the blog , you must have read the struggle AFTER death of Prithviraj.

Some links on Net have nothing to do with history and are absolute non sense. I have personally read those books. And there is nothing like that mentioned there in them. :)

With due respect, i would say - I'd not appreciate such a link to be posted here on this thread , as it spreads wrong info . :)

Thanks Abhay for the note. I wanted to hear from you on this.
I am appalled to read such crap posts. My blood just boiled.

Abhay waiting eagerly to read in detail about Prithviraj Chauhan and even his valorous ancestors. What achievement by him at such a young age and what not by his ancestors too - the kind of achievement in mere 10 years!! I would like to know every bit of it all.

And ofcourse about Bhoja Parmar also please.

A big thank you.
