Aamir Khan is the best example, but even in this generation there are method actors who completely get into the skin of the charachter and obliterate themselves. Ranveer, Kangana, Priyanak are a few examples. They completely inhabitate the world of the character - including the body language, the dialogues, the emotions etc. you forget the original personality traits of the actors.
not all great actors are method actors. for e.g. - Kajol. I also feel Ranbir and Deepika are not method actors( deepika has spoken about how she does not practice beforehand.)

But is method acting impressive? For me, it is. I think it takes a lot of hard work and effort as well as talent, and not everyone has talent, but they should all try to get into the skin of the character.

Seriously when you watch the movie you dont know if someone is a natural actor or method actor in the end of the day you like the performance or not. But what I noticed especially in hollywood those who are into this whole method acting or at least doing it for a particular character.These are the ones who are totally realistic in their parts and till now got mostly also an oscar for their performances. I think for method acting you need a lot of discipline definetely not an easy task.

Method acting or natural acting, the whole point is it should come across as natural on screen..It doesn't matter if you rehearse for a year yet when ppl watch you on screen, you are so natural that the effort is just not seen ( in a positive way where you don feel like someone is trying too hard)..I always see that with Aamir..There is a level of fakeness in his performance..In the sense that you can tell he has worked hard and every expression of his is measured and calculated..Thats one of the main reasons why i like Ranbir as an actor..I don know how well he prepares for a role but when he does well, he does it with so much nonchalance and ease..That is also the reason why SRK in CDI beats almost every performance of Aamir..

@bold

I agree the most.

Hence I'd prefer a Sonakshi in Lootera than Deepika as Leela, Mastaani or Piku. For which she'd prepared her self for. Even Parineeti, Varun who all haven't much pathbreaking work but are more convincible than method actors which may look artificial. Look at Ranveer. He worked hard for Ram's role where for Varun's role in Lootera he barely worked hard. People appreciated his work in Lootera more.

Just like the way, Aamir's performance in Sarfarosh or even TZP beats almost every performance of SRK. 😛
