Mangaluru, Dec 24: A Mangaluru-based activist faced online abuse and rape threats after she complained against Bajrang Dal activists who allegedly harassed owners of cinema halls to stop the screening of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol-starrer Dilwale. Activist Vidya Dinker received numerous threats and abuse on social networking site Facebook after she registered an FIR against the state convenor of the Bajrang Dal Sharan Pumpwell and others for infusing fear among theatre owners who screened Dilwale movie.

According to the report of The New Minute, Vidya Dinker heard a few people, who had booked tickets for Shah Rukh's Dilwale, complain that when they went to the theatre on Sunday evening theatre owners offered a refund as the movie would not be screened. When she inquired about the cancellation of shows of Dilwale, theatre owners said that Bajrang Dal activist stopped the screening of Dilwale midway. (ALSO READ: Why blame poor response to Dilwale on intolerance when your film is crap, Mr Rohit Shetty?)

"I was told by a theatre owner that on Sunday right-wing activists came to the theatre asking that the 4 pm to 7 pm screening that was mid-way be stopped. However, the right-wing activists agreed let the ongoing show get over and cancel screening thereafter," Dinker told the website.

After waiting few days for screenings to resume, agitated Dinker went to speak to the head of a cinema chain who told her that owners had been intimidated into giving up screening the film. "The complete fear that they have managed to instil in everyone means that there is a parallel criminal justice system at work," she said. Since Dinker complained about Bajrang Dal, she has been receiving online threats.

However Sharan Pumpwell denied all charges saying that they only requested' theatre owners not to screen Shah Rukh Khan's film.

They have nothing better to do than intimidating people. Where is their tolerance? I thought they would be protesting against the juvenile rapist in nirbhaya case being released. Here they are threatening to rape someone else. They have nothing better to do???

DW maybe a good film for some...a bad film for some...i want the film to work for this reason...to teach these morons a lesson that India is freedom country...citizens of India has the rights to live their life in their own term w/o being in fear...whatever they do...they can't dominate common man...

I hate when people throw around the word rape like it's an everyday thing! This rape crap really needs to stop and W*F threatening someone really?

But the movie was bad so it deserved to flop protestors should just pack their bags and go home 1-2 crores wont make much difference to the film collections
