Bombay High Court to decide Salman Khan's appeal against conviction today

Salman Khan's appeal against conviction in the 2002 hit-and-run case will be decided by a court in Mumbai today. The High Court will give its ruling on whether the actor was driving the car in a drunk state. In May, the actor was sentenced to five years in jail by a lower court after he was convicted of 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder', following which he had appealed against the conviction in the Bombay High Court that suspended his sentence. The court began dictating its orders yesterday.

On September 28, 2002 Salman's vehicle crashed into five men sleeping outside a bakery in Bandra and ran over a group of sleeping people. One person was killed in the accident and four others were injured.

Though eyewitnesses claim that Salman was seen getting out of the driver's side of the car, his lawyers have argued that it was driver who was driving the car that night.

The actor plea to make singer Kamaal Khan a witness in the case was earlier dismissed by the court.

This is just getting annoying now. If they had sentenced him when he had done the crime in a timely efficient manner it would have made more sense. This has dragged on for 13+ years where so much has changed; circumstances and all. They have literally made a joke of the victims death, and his family's suffering by dragging it on so long.
