Jeevika felt slightly pained for a moment, forgotten. She forced out a smile for Vidhi, trying to convince herself that it didn't matter. Yet as she turned around, she noticed Viren had left his keys on the mantlepiece.
Frowning, she headed over to the doorway when an arm suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist. She shrieked at the unexpected movement until she realized her attacker was none other than her playful husband. "Virenji!" she gasped. He had her pinned against the wall in a little hidden alcove, the leaves from a young sapling just brushing the top of her head.
"Hello, Mrs. Vadhera," he grinned, "I seemed to have forgotten something and I was wondering if you could give it to me?"
She held up the keys questioningly, but he shook his head, "That was my excuse so I could get you alone to myself. You didn't think I forgot to say goodbye to you, did you?"
She smiled, "You couldn't say bye to me in front of Vidhi?"
"I didn't quite want anyone to witness the type of goodbye I had in mind," he murmured in a low tone, tucking her hair behind her ear and leaning closer, his gaze focused on her mouth.
"Virenji!" she pushed him away, blushing, "Aap bhi naa...anyone could walk out and see us!"
He only responded by taking another step closer, pushing her further into the alcove, "No, they won't..."
She looked up at him, eyes widened, but she didn't push him away, her own gaze falling to his lips. He leaned in to whisper, his breath warm in her ear, "Aren't you going to give me what I forgot?"
She held up the keys teasingly, but he only caught them between their hands, entwining their fingers tightly together. He nipped at her earlobe gently, "Not quite," smiling at her intake of breath.
She slid her free hand up his chest, blushing, making her look all the more delightfully kissable and leaned in just as he did. Her eyes drifted back to his eyes for a single instant, which were dark and intense and she smiled, shifting a mere breath closer, her nose just brushing against his. Yet at the last second, he pulled back and kissed her cheek tenderly, taking the keys. "I could never forget you," he told her honestly, "No matter how busy I am, how many years we've spent together, I could never forget you, never get enough of you. I promise."
"Miss you!" he murmured, taking a few reluctant steps back. Jeevika only waved happily back, returning to the house in a much better mood. Viren realized their private moment had been witnessed by a curious Vidhi, who had caught a glimpse of them from the window. He had stopped himself from kissing Jeevika as intimately as he would have liked, but that hadn't stopped him from sweetly kissing her cheek. He didn't care if all the world knew how much he loved his wife.
Jeevika, too, heading inside, met with a self-conscious looking Vidhi who stammered and didn't meet her eyes directly.
She realized she must have seen something between the two and quickly engaged Vidhi in conversation, taking the girl's mind off the matter, although she blushed and smiled to herself, recalling Viren's words, that he would never forget her, no matter what.
