The stage is set for the biggest release of the year. Moviegoers will celebrate Diwali with Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in theatres. With just one day left for the release, the hype has reached its peak.
Last year, during the same time Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" was released and it went on to become one of the biggest blockbuster. Released a day after Diwali, it earned Rs 44.97 crore, which is the highest opening day box office collection.
And now Salman's "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" is expected to mint more than "Happy New Year". It has already created a huge buzz and since it is releasing during festive time, the film is set to take Earth shattering opening. The advance booking status suggests that it can challenge HNY opening day record.
The overall advance booking for PRDP is around 70% which is less than HNY (80%). But since Salman Khan starrer is releasing on more screens, the record is still in its reach.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is a family drama film which is also a big advantage as family audience goes to theaters in big numbers on Diwali. So if all goes well, PRDP can break or atleast equal HNY record.
