By keeping silent he is doing injustice to both the ladies. Just imagine this was the real Sualakshana, the what would have happened to her after getting back to her husband after 6 years and her husband has become a man void of emotions? What was the fault of Gayathri in this that he is doing emotional athyachar on her by telling don't leave me if you love me! He is putting her love at test not his love.
Why can't he open up with both and say that this situation is not what he brought on them but was planned by the destiny. He never wanted to leave Sona but she was missing (after falling into the valley) for 6 long years and was declared dead, so for the sake of the state and for the betterment fo the family, he married Gayathri.
