TMKOC Completes 1800 Episodes

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has added yet another jewel to its crown by completing laughter and entertainment-filled 1800 episodes. The show is currently number one on its channel and ranks in top 10 across all channels. "It is team work. Comedy is a difficult genre, especially if it is an absolute family entertainer. The show's writers are very good and consistent and the actors are extremely talented with an excellent comic timing. I too am 101% involved in the day-to-day development of show." says producer Asit Kumarr Modi who has also conceived and designed the show.

Recently, Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor came on the set to celebrate Diwali. Salman, who was visiting the set for the second time was pleasantly surprised to know that the show completed so many episodes without breaks, generation leaps, dramatic twists or negative tracks. The Bollywood actor then congratulated the team for the achievement and told them hanste raho.

With actors like Salman, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone on the show, it has earned the tag of a 'must-visit set' for promotion of all Bollywood films. "We essentially have a dedicated family audience watching our show. It matches the target group of films perfectly. Naturally, TMKOC has become a necessary platform for all film promotions," says Asit. It is an achievement for a daily sitcom, for a clean family show that has rib-tickling comedy along with social messages, whether it is the subject of ragging in colleges or problems in getting college admission, cleanliness, builders' lobby, eve teasing or insensitivity in children for weaker section. Has the journey been easy? "We barely realised that we completed 1800 episodes so soon. Making others laugh is what we love to do. Yes, achieving this milestone for a daily comedy is unheard of but it is the result of the love we receive from our committed viewers and hard work of our entire team. I am sure viewers will keep loving TMKOC and we will keep providing wholesome family entertainment to them," adds the producer.

And what are the future plans of their production house Neela Tele Films? "We plan to expand our creativity to other genres of television shows, while remaining true to our core strength, that is comedy. Also, along with television, we intend to make a foray into making films of different genres, as that is a natural progression of the work we do. We are also building ourselves a very strong digital platform, as that is the most favoured medium for the current generation. Changing as per the need of the hour has kept us going strong all these years and we will continue to evolve for progress," he concludes.
