I am done with these characters: Aanand L Rai on Tanu Weds Manu 3

There has been a lot of speculation about Aanand L Rai's next directorial after Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Rumour has it that Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt will be starring in it. The director refuses to confirm the news when we ask him. "Before you make a new film, you have to live life. I am doing that. I am working on my script and meeting actors. I am enjoying the process. Let's not jump the gun. Wait for the announcement. It's too early to talk about the cast," he says.

Of late, Aanand has started backing other directors' films as a producer, a move that many call an effort to create a film factory'. "I get scared at the word factory'. They must have intended to say family'," he says, elaborating on the films he's lined up, as producer. One of them will feature Abhay Deol and Diana Penty. Another will star Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar. Ask him if he'll make a third instalment of the Tanu Weds Manu series, and he says, "I won't make a third part just because it is a brand, or because it will work. Let's not treat it like a series. Right now, there is no part three. I think I am done with the characters, at least for now."
