Why do Bangalore lakes have foam? WHy do MNCs sell phosphate free detergents in western countries but overload phosphates in India?

GANESHA IDOLS IMMERSED IN LAKES AND RIVERS , ARE TRADITIONALLY MADE WITH BENTONITE CLAY FOR PHOSPHORUS LOCKING.

Ganapati idols are to of Bentonite clay using biodegradable decorations, and organic paints , using NIL non-biodegradable plastic .

This annual surcharge of good quality clay is so very important for sustaining the lake level and also the quality of the water.

Ever since EMINENT rationalists stopped Ganesha idol immersion the lakes have all vanished . The clay lining at bottom and side of the lake is paramount to prevent water loos.

Phosphorous, primarily in the form of phosphate, is not very soluble ( like nitrate in artificial fertilizers ) and is primarily transported by sediment in runoff, often ending up in lakes and rivers and streams.

We humans excrete (feces/ urine ) more than 1.54 kilos of phosphorus annually.

Today phosphorus is used in foods and beverages.

Coke uses white Phosphoric acid.

Controlling phosphorous discharged from municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants is a key factor in preventing eutrophication of surface waters

Sodium bentonite expands when wet, absorbing as much as several times its dry mass in water. Because of its excellent colloidal properties, it acts as a sealant, since it provides a self-sealing, low permeability barrier.

It prevents water seepage in desert area lakes like Pushkar . Nowadays it is used to line the base of garbage landfills"to prevent toxic liquid and heavy metal waste seeping into ground water and aquifers.

Phosphates are used indiscriminately by foreign multinationals( like Procter and Gamble ) in their detergents.

Without declaring the amount or percentage they include more phosphate in detergent in places like Bangalore were borewell water yields only HARD WATER.

So their detergents clean better , Indians buy more , soon they monopolise , and they laugh all the way to the bank.

But HEY, these rich western companies sell only PHOSPHATE FREE detergents in USA , Europe and developed countries"since at least 20 years.

The phosphate used in most powdered detergents is sodium triphosphate, or STPP, and it's used to soften hard water.

But when it's introduced to waterways, phosphorous can cause environmental damage, including algae blooms, low oxygen levels , fish deaths"and the foam you see .

There are atmospheric conditions which cause more foam on lakes like low atmospheric pressure, wind ripple agitation, rain etc.

Most of the lakes in India are green in colour due to algae.

Phosphates consume large amounts of oxygen, in the lake literally killing all aquatic organisms and ecosystems.

The Modi govt must introduce a law as soon as possible.

Give these multinational detergent companies a dead line in writing , mentioning the INITIAL FINE and the subsequent fine.

After that make them close shop in India.

Make these multinationals pay for restoration of our lakes. They had double standards.
