All I can say is that I'm a tamilian and we don't celebrate KC. Personally I find it weird to have a fast for husband's long living. I think is really beautiful when I watch the moon etc. in hindi TV-shows, but this tradition is way too ortodoks. For change let men fast for their wives' long living.
