This has been on my mind a lot.
TEI started off being really light and fun but then moved into the darkness really quick. The scene that ushered all this in is undoubtedly the night at the farmhouse. After they showed that, the show failed to grasp and maintain the initial light energy that it used to have.
It did not handle the situation well at all. Kunj was immediately target and was never able to retain his dignity back. It was as if everyone merely glossed it over as if nothing had ever happened. The only person who does remember and keeps rubbing it in his face is Twinkle.
Now, what happened to Twinkle is absolutely horrible. She tried to commit suicide the night before and the very next night she was drugged and almost raped. That is enough to send anyone over the edge. She is undoubtedly filled with so much confusion, rage and hatred and the only outlet that she has right now is throwing it all onto Kunj.
Why? Because he's the one who was found in a compromising situation and he is the only person who is found guilty. As Propinquity pointed out, no one has tried to investigate what had really happened that night. They all simply assumed it was Kunj and left it at that. They didn't try to look further and see if Kunj is truly innocent or perhaps what Twinkle said was false because of her delirious state. They just blamed him and left it at that.
As of right now, Kunj is still guilty and his character is still tarnished. Nothing has happened to erase that taint. Again, as Propinquity had pointed out, even Kunj isn't doing anything to clear his name. Surely, if he brought forth evidence of his innocence, the real culprit could have been found and Twinkle could find some peace of mind. She wouldn't ever be able to truly forget what happened but at least she wouldn't have to live her life knowing the fact that she got married to her potential rapist.
She is not in a stable state of mind. It isn't necessary for instability to be shown in just one way (being clueless, the stereotypical image of a crazy person etc.). Instability can also be shown through irrationality, temperament, contradictory actions etc. Considering that Twinkle had tried to kill herself, she is not in the right frame of mind. She did not get the adequate type of support needed to get over that trauma. She needs psychological help to help her identify why she took such a drastic step, the wrongness of it and to ensure that she doesn't do it again. We, as well as she, know that she did it for her mother. Leela would have drank that poison if she did. But what does that say about Twinkle? Does she place the value of her own life that low that she was so easily able to take the huge step of ending it? How susceptible is she in doing it again?
Being drugged, almost raped, kidnapped, her character being tarnished, being married to whom she considers to be her potential rapist, being disowned by her own mother, being forced to bathe in cow piss etc. All this has occurred within one month of her attempted suicide. If her state of mind is truly fragile, then all she needs is one more incident for her to snap and end her life again.
We all know that Twinkle is strong and will not admit defeat that easily. But that's only evident from her actions. But what about her mind? What truly runs through there? What does she think of when all these events occur to her? Does she see the wrongness of them and build herself up? Console herself and try to keep herself together? Or does she wallow in self-pity and slowly eat herself alive?
