Jugalbandi Now With SKF
Sameer Sharma was to direct a musical film titled Jugalbandiunder the Salman Khan Films banner, a film that focused on the musical journey of an artist. But it seems things didn't work out and the director opted for another film. But Salman Khan and his team loved the film so much that they have acquired it and will make the movie with another director.
When Sharma was on board, the film was to feature Saif Ali Khan in the lead. With another director stepping in and the production team working on the script in a different way, it will be interesting to see who they will cast. Or will Saif Ali Khan still feature in it?
Akshay-Nargis' Cameo
Rohit Dhawan made his directorial debut with Desi Boyzstarring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham in the lead. For his next, he has roped in Abraham and his younger brother Varun Dhawan along with Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles. Half the film is complete and producer, Sajid Nadiadwala, has made sure it will turn out truly grand. The film is being shot in locations like Morocco, Germany, Los Angeles and London, so let your imagination take wing.
We also hear that Rohit Dhawan, who started his career with Kumar, wanted his lucky charm to do a cameo in Dishoom and the actor has happily agreed. Kumar and Nargis Fakhri will do the cameo together. Kumar, who is currently shooting with Fakhri in London, will shot the cameo in London, where the next schedule of Dishoom will take place.
Love Triangle
Superhit producer-jodi Aanand L Rai and Sailesh Singh from Tanu Weds Manu Returns are back with another film titled Manmarziya. A love story set in Punjab;Manmarziya is being directed by Sameer Sharma and features Ayushmann Khuranna and Bhumi Pednekar, who were last seen in Dum Laga Ke Haisha. A source close to the film reveals, "The film is not a simple love story, it's a love triangle rooted in the culture of Punjab with a hint of modernisation. The film starts rolling in January 2016 and will be shot for 40 days in North India. If all goes well, it will hit cinemas at the end of next year."
Hunkar Postponed
After setting up his production house, Anubhav Sinha is all set for his next directorial after four years, post-Ra.One. The director had earlier announced Hunkar with Riteish Deshmukh, Abhay Deol and Taapsee Pannu in the lead. Now we hear he will first start Tum Bin 2 and then tackle Hunkar. The reason is, Sinha wants to shoot in a snow-capped location for Tum Bin 2 and doesn't want to miss this winter's snowfall.
Next Schedule of Azhar
The first schedule of Balaji Motion Pictures and MSM Motion Pictures'Azhar has wrapped in London, where the makers shot at Lord's.Azhar, a biopic of cricketer and former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin, will be shot in Hyderabad for its second schedule. A source close to the film reveals, "Half the film is done and the remaining half will be shot in various places in Hyderabad city, including the cricket stadium. The cast will join the crew next week and will shoot extensively for the film. It will be shot for over 40 days in Hyderabad."
The film also features Prachi Desai and Nargis Fakhri.
Concept Locked
After the success of Vicky Donor, Madras Caf and recently Piku, everyone was eagerly waiting to see what the director Shoojit Sircar would do next as he is known for out-of-the-box, concept films. We hear that the director, along with his writer Juhi Chaturvedi has locked a concept for their next film. Yes, once again, it's a one-of-a-kind story. The director and writer duo will finish the script by the middle of next year and then start casting. Watch this space for more!
Vinil Mathew's Next
After the success of Hasee Toh Phasee, director Vinil Mathew will be back directing feature films. Mathew had been eyeing many scripts and even started working on a love story, which didn't work out very well so he put it on hold. But we hear that Dharma Productions has offered the director an outstanding script, which is concept-driven. Turns out, the director loves it and will soon meet with Karan Johar, who is currently shooting Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Once he is back, he will have a narration and will look at casting.
We hear that Mathew wants to start this film by early next year and finish it soon, so that he has his second film releasing by 2017.This film will not be co-produced by Phantom.
Guess Who?
This production house announced its next film way in advance. Although shooting is still underway, they didn't want to miss a single opportunity to promote their film, so much so that they kick-started the promotions with a grand event. At least, that's what they had planned.
So the lead cast was flown to another city for the grand promotional event but neither were the sponsors, nor the film's marketing partners, nor the corporate houses which were co-producing the film, aware of the chaos that had gripped the venue.
Apparently, they missed capturing the footage which they had planned to release to the media. Turns out there were so many teams handling the event that they were done in by a case of too many cooks... Moreover, the actors were running four to five hours late, which the marketing teams of the corporate houses were not aware of till the very last moment. It seems, the film director's marketing team knew about this but had neglected to inform the other teams. To say that there was a huge communication gap between the production house and its corporate house, when it came to marketing, is an understatement. It will be interesting to see what happens next as they have decided to go all out to market the film, which will be clashing with one of the biggest films of the year.
