It looks like Ekta Kapoor's casting woes will see some respite. The producer, who was scouting for female leads for her film, The Half Girlfriend, based on Chetan Bhagat's novel, has reportedly signed Athiya Shetty on for the project. It was earlier reported that Kriti Sanon might be doing the film, but more recent reports suggested that it would be a choice between Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif. But neither A-list diva was able to sign on the dotted line, owing to issues with dates. But all seems well now that Athiya has okayed the film. Varun Dhawan was being speculated as the male lead but that too hasn't materialised and there's no official announcements on the cast as of now. Half Girlfriend is being directed by Mohit Suri and is looking to hit screens in 2016.
