Yesterday epi was all about Sudha's dependency on Chander. She cant go without him. Look at her childish ways. She doesn't realize she has grown into a maiden. Still runs behind Chander as if she is a little girl. You used to massage my hair. And the way she sleeps listening to his poem. If that was cute, her coming in search of him with the broken chappal was innocent. She didn't think twice before asking in front of everyone you help me in fixing up my chappal. It was a little girl's zidd.
And Chander he entertains all her sweet tantrums. What Sudha's father said is true. Sudha is like that because of Chander. He was her defense always. And I guess her marriage is going to take away that defense for her , something without which she cannot breathe.

Yesterdays episode was quite an enjoyable one, wasn't it? Even more than dependence, it was about the 'haq' Sudha feels she has on Chander. Her mai was massaging her hair, but as soon as she knew Chandar is there, she goes to him with her demand for a massage accompanied with a poetry session. He pretends to object but he knows and she knows too that he would give in. He can't refuse Sudha no matter how small or big the demand is. The massage scene was cute as you said. I won't blame Sudha though. The combined effect of gentle massage and soothing poetry can lure anyone to sleep 😆 . Then same thing happened in university. If she could come to Chanders college all by herself, she could have easily gone to the cobbler and got her sandle repaired. But that was not the point. The point was her right to pester Chandar with her demand no matter how childish. And it's not a one way street. If she claims the right on Chanders time and priority, she has also given him the right to be only one to solve every difficulty in her life no matter how trifle. Sudha derives her strength and power from this nameless haq/ authority/ right, she has on Chander. And when that is lost, when she feels she doesn't have the right to be his priority, she would be a lost soul.

Coming to Sudhas father, the amount off trust and faith her father has on Chander is commendable. And he may blame Chander all he want, but the fact is that he is an equal culprit when it comes to spoiling Sudha . He confessed as much in the ghat scene with Chandar(another beautiful scene BTW), that he has never raised his voice, or said a harsh word to Sudha coz she was deprived of her mother's love. He did his best to compensate that and yet Sudhas innocence and immaturity worries him. Fact is both her father and Chandar have protected Sudha, kept her away from harsh realities of life, which is a blessing and curse. Blessing because the purity of her heart and her innocence is preserved, curse because when she would have to face the life and its ugliness on her own she won't know how to handle that without the support of these two men in her life. They have given her wings to fly, but haven't taught her how to walk if she hits the ground.

Sorry this gotten longer than I expected. But then yesterdays episode was very beautiful and telling.

PS- Did you notice cobblers words about Sudha? He said that strange is this girl, doesn't even allow anyone else to speak. It's stuck in my head, coz such words prove to be prophetic in an ironical way.

@enchanted a very nice take. Yes Sudha does feel she has an authority on Chander. I mean kind of she has the first right on him, and in a way she gives him the first right also in her life. I agree to you Sudha is an overprotected girl. So far she has got everything she wanted. Nothing was refused to her.
For such people generally when they get the first rejection it is difficult to handle, they will be lost, they will not be able to tolerate it.
And coming to Sudha's dad I feel since he treats Chander like his son, he might be thinking Chander-Sudha is having a bro-sis bonding, which is actually his miscalculation.
Yes cobblers words I noticed it. The girl doesn't allow anyone else to speak. Yes it is going to be prophetic because a time is gonna come when no one is there to listen to her.
Not only yesterday epi, every epi is taken very nicely. It does have a movie feel. Maybe because it is pre-shot. And performance all actors are doing really really good.

The performances of all the actors all indeed fantastic be it lead actors or character ones. And the sets,costumes,designing, dialogues everything has been spot on. They have been able to recreate that era very realistically and simply, something which I admire. No wonder we get the movie like feel. Coz there has been a lot of detailing and research and it shows.

The promo was captivating. And Sudhas lines... Phool kadhna seekh liya, tumhara naam kadhna seekh liya, ho gayi poori humari kadhayi. This is one of the most simple yet romantic lines I have heard, and conveyed the whole essence of show in 30 seconds. That to Sudha Chandar is her whole world, nothing exists beyond him.

I must say well analyzed by both of you.

The episode yesterday was all about the haqs both Sudha and Chander have. Like you both pointed out Sudha is childish and demands many things because she knows that Chander will always oblige. And Chander allows it and returns it with some demands of his own knowing that Sudha will never refuse.

I guess this will play out in the future when Sudha's father wants to get her married and he asks Chander to convince Sudha. Sudha can't refuse Chander and that may be what breaks his and her heart as they let their haq take the better of them.

@shruthiravi, @-enchanged-, @CTShreya , @all,
IMO or better yet I feel just wanting someone else to lean on, talk to or just be there for you is all you really want or discreetly asking for. Alex
