Really Wow👏I cannot help but praise this Gayatri with all my heart and Respect !!!! how she behaves with everyone , does her queenly duties , lives up to her image , maintains her dignity as the new queen interacting with family members with immense humility and dignity . But in all this the man who is withering in guilt is Indravadan to see Gayatri's almost nonchalant behavior . Even hate is an emotion , but Gayatri is doing it in a mechanical way no emotions involved or expressed . She is nice to the servants working at the palace , even they get her prasad yet Indravadan is not that lucky .

The last conversation was bloody brilliant👏 the way she directly approached the subject to their so called marriage and arrangement "if he can make her feel any better" (too bad Indravadan its too late and the damage is done) she states that she doesn't wish anything , the marriage is done and she cannot go back to her parents otherwise the "unlucky" title will tag up wit her , her mother would be ashamed if she goes back and her father after all the huge expenses he had done for his daughter would go to waste . Its her penance for being the "starry eyed idiot" .

The dialogues of Gayatri are too good👏 even though they are meant for herself indirectly she lets Indravadan know how unworthy he is and I loved that . She never speaks badly to him but she blames this situation on none other but herself . Her talks are really painful but there is also a humor there when she gets verbal with Rana😆 .

Super update!! It's getting painful for Ranaji. Waiting to see how you build this up with Ranaji being helpless and Gayatri reconciling to her situation and being civil. You write very well and it's a pleasure to read your updates. Update soon

Part 6: I like to hear from the readers.

The servants were all in a frenzy under the wrath of Badi Rani Maa. Gayatri was nowhere to be found.

Down in the hallway...

BRM: What is the meaning of this!? I wanted that girl not to go anywhere without informing me!!! She did not even take body guards along despite everything that has happened!

Hearing the shouting and screaming, Ranaji quietly made his way down to the source of the ruskus.

Raj Mata: She told me before going out.

BRM: Don't lie. I have no time for your nonsense right now. I will NOT be disobeyed!!! Find her!

Raj Mata: What is the point of all this rage. She will be back soon, I am sure. She is from here and very used to the neighborhood.

BRM: But she is no long some trader's daughter to be flitting about! Let her be back, I will teach her a lesson she will never forget.

Quwar Rani: Maybe she ran away...or was kidnapped! Oh, what if they hurt her (she ended a bit too gleefully)?

Ranaji: That is enough conjecture for today. I will go find her and no one will say anything to her.

BRM: But her insolence must be punished!

Ranaji: She committed no insolence, BRM. She just went to the library.

Raj Mata: How do you know?

Ranaji: She reads. That's were she would go for some...(he sighed and looked around) reprieve.

Raj Mata nodded, smiling understandingly.

BRM: Reads!!!? Do we not have enough books here to keep her occupied that she must go to the libary like some...pauper!?

Ranaji: We only have dull law and religious books.

BRM: So?

Ranaji, slowly: I doubt she went to read the Gayatri Mantra (He walked out).

At the library...

Ranaji walked in to the alarm of the librarian: I came looking for Rani Gayatri Devi, Mr. Shankar. Is she in here?

Mr. Shankar pointed to the part end of the library without a word. With a slight bow, Ranaji made his way down.

There was nothing in that stack of rows except for a ladder.

At the sight of some dust falling from the ceiling, he looked up. All the way at the top of the ladder was his wife, fully decked in her queenly attire and burrowing through the dusty books with great concentration.

Ranaji: Queens don't perch on ladders.

She startled and dropped her book - which landed on his head before dropping to the floor.

Gayatri quickly came half-way down the ladder: Oh God, are you hurt!? Oh dear...it cut you. That's the problem with these metal corners.

Seeing the nick on his forehead, she quickly dabbed the blood with her aanchal.

Ranaji was unusally subdued, she thought. Then, with a start she realized that she was giving him quite a sight with her aanchal down - her blouse and midriff in full view. She pulled back with a start and stumbled down the ladder.

Ranaji broke her fall, but her foot was caught in a bundle of sari and steps.

Gayatri squeaked in pain.

Ranaji: Sorry, sorry, one minute.

He pulled out her small foot, stuck in a painful angle in the step. He held her close for support though she tried to wiggle out of his grip.

Gayatri: I am f-fine!

Ranaji wiped the rebellious tear that refused to go back in as she blinked hard: Clearly.

She slapped his hand away in irritation.

Gayatri walked with concentrated pain out of library, refusing his hand to help.

Ranaji, annoyed: Don't be such a stubborn brat. You are clearly in pain. Let me help you.

Gayatri winced: I cannn ww-alk. Why are you even here!? If you didn't startle me, I would not have stumbled like that.

Ranaji: You left with no word, BRM was worried about you.

Gayatri smirked: I am sure. She is throwing a fit, isn't she? I am on the place grounds, don't see what the fuss is about.

She walked slowly, with patient tolerance for the pain that kept shooting up her foot with each step. Indravardhan tried repeatedly to help in the long walk back, but she would not have it.

Ranaji: I am only trying to help, rani.

Gayatri: Well, stop. You are under no obligation to help me.

Ranaji: You are my wife.

Gayatri: I am your political deal, you don't have to go around picking me up every time I get a sprain. Save that for someone you actually care about.

Ranaji: I care about you. How could you doubt that?

Gayatri laughed in indignation as she looked straight ahead: How indeed!

Ranaji insisted: I care about you. Maybe not in the ways...

Gayatri turned around to face him now: Yes, like a pet you have to take care of maybe, but I am not your responsibility. I am just the side-effect of an ugly business deal. Stop taking all this gallantry upon yourself for me. I will only have it from a man who loves me and NOT FROM YOU!

Her words struck him like a physically assault. He wished her words did not affect him as much because she was clearly embarrassed and irritated from her accident, but they struck home.

Hurt, he retorted: Then, maybe we should find you a man who can love you like that.

Gayatri was on fire: Don't bother. I already have someone in mind to take your place!

Indravardhan's nails dug into his palms: What did you say?

Gayatri was belligerent: I do not owe you any answers.

She walked away. He went after her with deliberate steps.

Ranaji: I demand an answer!

Gayatri airily: Demand away. You won't have any.

He was about to pounce when BRM descended upon them at the palace gates. A different kind of fight started there with BRM's shrill cries and Gayatri's calm, unruffled answers. Raj Mata and Rani Bahu tried to keep the peace. None of the ladies however had any time for him.

Seething, Ranaji left the scene.

Later that night in front of Sulakshna's picture...

Ranaji: I don't know what to do Sulakshna. I know I have no right...but I can't have a moment's peace since she...

Gayatri, smoothly: Am I interrupting?

He looked around, looking every bit as tormented as he felt. She had clearly heard him.

Ranaji, angrily: Yes, you are.

Gayatri arched at eyebrow and said unapologetically: Sorry then, do carry on. I will be in the Raj suite when you are done.

She walked back into her room. Indravardhan went after her.

Ranaji: Wait! You came to anwer my question?

Gayatri cooly brushed her hair: There was a question?

Ranaji: Yes, there was a question. Who is the man?

Gayatri: Ah, that's not important. I came to ask about tomorrow's visit to the dam reopening. When should I be ready?

Ranaji: I don't care about the damned dam! Answer my question first.

Gayatri countered: You should care about the dam reopening. It is the least your prajas can expect of you.

Ranaji: You insist on being impossible, but I won't have it.

Gayatri: Oh? And what are you going to do about it?

Not thinking straight, Ranaji shouted: You cannot have an affair!

Gayatri: Did I tell you you cannot love your dead wife? Why are you getting in my way?

Ranaji sputtered in anger: There is a difference! She was my wife!

Gayatri shook her head: Love is love, however you see it.

Ranaji angrily knocked over a vase: It is NOT the same!!!

Gayatri said with deliberate patience: That was my favorite vase. If you do that again, I will break every single damned thing in your palace.

Ranaji smiled sarcastically: I would like to see you try.

Gayatri glared at him: Don't try me, Indravardhan Singh Deo, or else I will start with your wife's portrait.

He went into his room and slammed that door shut.

Gayatri sighed: I didn't mean that, I am sorry Solaskshna.

Don't forget to leave your thoughts for me!
