No matter how the story or tracks turned out, one thing we cannot deny is the fabulous cast this show had. Even in tracks we found difficult or melodramatic they never failed to consistently give stupendous performances no matter the requirement. So I take this chance to say special thanks to this Doli Ki Toli.
Kunal Karan Kapoor, you were the sole reason why I started watching this show. Having missed out on NBT's original telecast, I honestly didn't care whether this was a leap or an already existing show, you were returning after a long gap and I was getting to watch you live and that's all that mattered. Right from the start I was in love with Shaurya Urmi Sinha, his characterization, the hopes, possibilities and scope this role held, and you were absolutely fantastic in each and every one of his scenes. Whether it was the sensitive and dutiful son, the doting brother, the no-nonsense "khadoos" boss of a newspaper, staunchly loyal friend, besotted lover or the vulnerable man who still had a lot of unhealed scars and hidden pain inside and was constantly battling his demons, we were glued to our screens hanging on to every word, expression or gesture eager to know more about this man and what he would do next. Even though our journey with Shaurya was short-lived we got to cherish every moment you were on our screen. Thank you for giving us this character and making him so believable despite the lack of focus on him.
Neha Sargam, you were like a breath of fresh air as Diya Tiwari/Diya Shaurya Sinha. At a time when it's the sacrificial, meek heroine who seems to be ruling the Indian screens your firebrand, trail blazing journalist was truly a most welcome exception and an inspiration in many ways. Whether it was the bold and bubbly reporter, a victim traumatized by rape, or a fighter who wouldn't rest till justice wasn't served and later the lady in love, it was a pleasure watching you portray these varied shades and as icing on the cake you made a really adorable jodi with Kunal which we wish we could have seen more of but alas we'll have to content ourselves with the few lovely scenes we got of the two of you.
Manasi Salvi, having never watched the pre-leap episodes you were always Urmi for me. And you were absolutely perfect for this role as the loving mother with a close bond with her son, her longing for her estranged daughter at the same time trying to hold the family together while also proving to be a pillar of support to Diya in her greatest hour of need. Handling both the sensitive and strong aspects of Urmi with elan for me some of the most memorable moments were during the rape case track leading up to some amazing performances by you as the public prosecutor.
Kamya Punjabi, although I've never been a fan of Damini and did not like the way she turned completely evil in the end, your performance especially as the forever resentful Badi Ma and the over-indulgent grandmother to Ishani made her so convincing and worth watching.
Also to everybody else including Avinash Wadhavan as the long-suffering yet generous Aniruddh, Nalini Negi as the headstrong yet good-hearted Ishani, Kunal Jaisingh/ Shashank Sethi as Cheeku, Kapil Arya as the slimy, no-good "douchebag" (as we like to "affectionately" call him đ) Karan Tripathi, Gaurav Chopra as superstar Akash Kumar, and the actors who played Gaurav, Asha, Nupur, Alok, Sandhya and everyone else a big thanks to all. You have all been wonderful in your respective roles and entertained us these 3 months. You were an amazing Doli ki Toli and will all be missed.
