Nothing
Fact of the matter is that you are better off without her. But you constantly keep on looking over your shoulder, the 'What Ifs' and the 'Maybes' don't ever leave your head. But you still tell yourself that you are better off, and you will be okay. Eventually.
A couple of shots of double black hits you hard, in all the right places. You down more, hoping the memories would dissolve in the alcohol. But after one too many, you know that it's impossible.
Promises. Her promises. You tell her she broke your heart, Broken, beyond repair. Hurt beyond compare. She called it growing up, and you are left speechless. What else could you have said in return?
The liquid courage did you good, or so you think. You dial her number without a second thought, without even a slight hesitation. And then it starts happening again. The 'Why's start haunting you. It gets worse with each ring, your heart starts thumping against your chest, you feel your pulse racing, with every passing second the phone is left unanswered, your heart starts beating faster, and faster.
You pray she has a change of heart when she sees how much you are hurting. You are willing to bet on that, willing to take that risk, you hope the liquid courage does it's work. And for a second you feel that maybe, just maybe you will be able to turn this all around.
She answers after what seems like an eternity, and you forget to breath. It's amazing how your body stops functioning how it's supposed to when it comes to her.
Your voice betrays you, just as you had expected. You struggle not to break down.
You manage to blurt out a hoarse "I Miss You..." and the silence from the other end of the line makes your heart sink. The silence tastes bitter in your mouth. All you hear is the loud thumping of your heart. a couple of seconds later you finally realize that you are not destined for words of comfort.
