Excellent post.

Showing society this way is not pleasant to watch. Kudos to the team for dealing with this topic and kudos to you for making this thread.

The double standard of society is well portrayed. Dhani is the helpless one. She is thought to be unlucky and brainwashed to think she is less deserving and can't do what others do. Because of who she is, she is thought to be dispensable, less valuable.

Kanak is privileged, belongs to a well known family, rich and powerful. She thinks she has every right to give out punishment. No one will question her because the age old thinking is instilled. Challenging her is challenging a belief system.

Viplav represents the challenge. He is truly a progressive, broad minded person. He does not make the distinction of status and prejudice. He values a life and sees it equal to any other.

We see the different parts of society but also the contrast between old ideas and new ways of thinking.

It is ironical that the smartphones, a sign of modernization and progress were used to film actions that were steeped in very old thought processes.

Thank you for liking the post :) & I must say, what you say is v.well worded! I agree with each and every word...

The last part of your post is something that touched me the most.. So so true it is! Though society is technologically advanced, it still harps on age old regressive traditions n uses the same advancement against advanced, modern thoughts & free beliefs.. I guess, it is the irony of the present existence altogether!

Today, what IKRS showed us was the ugly side of society... "SOCIETY" is a big word&today the show has raised a v.Vital question...What is the responsibility of the people who constitute this society? Is it to demean the weak just because one is more "worldly" powerful than them? OR Is it to protect the weak because one is more "Worldly" powerful than them?

Today we were shown both sides...

SIDE 1: Kanak, who takes it upon herself to humiliate a poor, weak widow who is already a victim of cruel societal traditions because she feels it's her right [self-proclaimed, of course] to punish the girl who has ushered in a break up for her son...
Question is would she DARE do the same had the girl not been a "helpless widow"& been some raeiszaadi of Tania's stature? The answer is NO! She would rather back her son&praise him for his valour & may have even day dreamed of a high profile marriage between her son and the girl Hypocritical enough?

SIDE 2: Viplav, a guy who takes it upon himself to save a drowning acquaintance... Even though the acquaintance is a girl who is weak, poor, helpless & he knows there are no profits in his act.. It's just humanity that is his call.. He is misunderstood by that v.girl he saves & yet he seeks to find out her whereabouts, yearns to know if she is fine & wants to clarify her misunderstanding! Some may say hes doing this bcz hes drawn towards her but I say hes doing this bcz hes a genuine human being... Someone who's not just human but humane..

I wish the society which oft times reflects its ugly side comprised such ppl as Viplav.. Then the world would be a better place...

PS: I also think, as members of society people can always choose the side!!

hI Yaar,
Great post and thought provoking too!! Its really sad but its true we do have ppl like DT,Kanak,Pandit in our society who are unfortunately in good position whose act impacts the other. We have selfless ppl to like Viplav who are brought up in our society with morals and high values and they stick to what they are being preached!! iorny is sometimes we overlook ppl beyond their actual face value.. be it in the case of DT by the Society and Viplav by Dhani.

Hi friend! :)
I agree with you! People tend to see only what appears to be rather than what is!! That's precisely why Dhani misunderstands both DT & Viplav associating the opposite characteristic to both, that isn't even a percent true to their real nature!

Great post. Agree with you- it's a harsh society. Instead of telling Vilblav that he did a wise thing to save a life, people will be pointing fingers at him. It's true that viplav's actions were pure, and humane- with no evil thoughts in his mind. Bravo for the modern men, with this humane and pure thoughts. Characters like viplav's hopefully will change this society from evil. To a better place to live. And hopefully characters like Dhani will be able to stand with confidence and fight for her human rights.
Let us hope to see light at end of the tunnel.

Yes, we require more ppl like Viplav to make this world a better place... And to instill the much required confidence among ppl like Dhani who consider themselves less deserving!

Lovely take on the current events of the serial. Well done. 👏👏👏

Unfortunately, our society is lopsided. Else, why would the majority of them be targeting the female when in reality she was not part of the whole episode? The MMS or the photo being circulated showed both the leads. Yet, the powerful and the on-lookers are only targeting the weaker one. None would have dared go beat up Vipul when it is clearly visible to every Tom, Dick and Harry that Dhani is lying unconscious. This shows that majority of them don't want to know the truth or have no intentions to find out what transpired that night. They are quick in their judgement and that too, against the weaker one in the society.

Even though I have spent less time in India, from what I have read on the internet and new papers, I can surmise this is how things unfold in rural areas. Take any news article today, they tend to question the girl rather than question the wrong doer.

I am glad that CVs are daring to show such incidents and I hope after watching these serials, people will react differently to such events. These scenes may be unsavoury to the viewer but what they reveal is the true face of the society. Sad it may seem but these are mere facts being brought on TV. Kudos to the writers, the actors and the production team. 👏

Hi & thank you! :)
Yes, I totally agree with you, it is the way of the world... The world often pounces&preys upon the weaker not just in India but across the world...
Also, about the MMS & pics though it was mentioned that people were badmouthing both Vip n Dhani we saw that the sufferer was only Dhani because she was the weaker one! What Viplav is facing as a punishment is psychological because he is innocent yet he cant prove it to either Dhani or the world... To top is the guilt that for him Dhani is facing humiliation but what Dhani is facing is an all encompassing punishment, physical, psychological,all.. She's innocent yet she's subject to public humiliation&shame for an act she has not even committed..
