Today, what IKRS showed us was the ugly side of society... "SOCIETY" is a big word&today the show has raised a v.Vital question...What is the responsibility of the people who constitute this society? Is it to demean the weak just because one is more "worldly" powerful than them? OR Is it to protect the weak because one is more "Worldly" powerful than them?

Today we were shown both sides...

SIDE 1: Kanak, who takes it upon herself to humiliate a poor, weak widow who is already a victim of cruel societal traditions because she feels it's her right [self-proclaimed, of course] to punish the girl who has ushered in a break up for her son...
Question is would she DARE do the same had the girl not been a "helpless widow"& been some raeiszaadi of Tania's stature? The answer is NO! She would rather back her son&praise him for his valour & may have even day dreamed of a high profile marriage between her son and the girl Hypocritical enough?

SIDE 2: Viplav, a guy who takes it upon himself to save a drowning acquaintance... Even though the acquaintance is a girl who is weak, poor, helpless & he knows there are no profits in his act.. It's just humanity that is his call.. He is misunderstood by that v.girl he saves & yet he seeks to find out her whereabouts, yearns to know if she is fine & wants to clarify her misunderstanding! Some may say hes doing this bcz hes drawn towards her but I say hes doing this bcz hes a genuine human being... Someone who's not just human but humane..

I wish the society which oft times reflects its ugly side comprised such ppl as Viplav.. Then the world would be a better place...

PS: I also think, as members of society people can always choose the side!!

Yes there are definitely all types of people and especially the two types you've mentioned here. The selfish ones and the selfless ones. Kanak and her FIL is of the selfish gang and of course Viplav is of the latter. And it's hard to identify these selfless ones which is why Dhani is finding it hard to trust him. Nice post, btw😊

Gone the days when seeing a house on fire people ran to get buckets of water to distinguish the fire regardless of whose house it was. Now the so called society has come to the point where it just stands in one corner with the smartphone and records the drama.

I felt awful for poor dhani and realized that people like her are still traumatized and terrorized everywhere. I would say she isnt even safe in her own house, today suwarna emotionally blackmailed her to leave the house I am assuming on tripurari's orders. If she stayed at home then kanak wouldnt have had the chance to harass her infront of so many people, other vidwa's would have ran after her with a belan!

I agree, in this big bad world it's difficult to identify the people who are humane & because people like Dhani who r victimised by society & face the "bad" side of it most often, they find it so difficult to trust good people like Viplav!

And thanks btw! :)

It's kinda a myth that society was any better in ancient days.. It has been the society's norm to display it's ugly side now & then and a habit to traumatise & victimise the weak! Proof is Mira Nair's water, a depiction of the widows in pre-independent India.. The society was at its worst even then!! Also, our myths depict a similar story of victimization by society...

Over the years, the victimising has remained the same.. Only with the advancement of technology their way of victimising has changed.. I felt disgusted today to see how Kanak behaved.. Being a woman, she was so keen on bringing humiliation upon another woman? And even the on lookers were busy finding a source of entertainment while a poor woman was being humiliated in the midst of a market... It was so so shameful...

Thank you! :) & yes, the ugliest side of society is that side which is hostile to those who are weak & hv no one to protect or tell them their rights of safeguarding themselves & fight the society! Sad but true

Excellent post.
Showing society this way is not pleasant to watch. Kudos to the team for dealing with this topic and kudos to you for making this thread.

The double standard of society is well portrayed. Dhani is the helpless one. She is thought to be unlucky and brainwashed to think she is less deserving and can't do what others do. Because of who she is, she is thought to be dispensable, less valuable.

Kanak is privileged, belongs to a well known family, rich and powerful. She thinks she has every right to give out punishment. No one will question her because the age old thinking is instilled. Challenging her is challenging a belief system.

Viplav represents the challenge. He is truly a progressive, broad minded person. He does not make the distinction of status and prejudice. He values a life and sees it equal to any other.

We see the different parts of society but also the contrast between old ideas and new ways of thinking.

It is ironical that the smartphones, a sign of modernization and progress were used to film actions that were steeped in very old thought processes.
