Age difference in a Marriage

I agree that there is a difference of a more than 10 years between Jai and Bani. I was just wondering that this is not really a once-in-a-while occurence. All around the world, we come across many marriages where the age difference between the husband and the wife is pretty striking.

And for shallow people like Arushi, it's this difference which hinders the enjoyment of a normal, married life. Does having a big age difference hamper a normal, married life? Why should it do so? After all is it written in any scriptures around the world that couples with a big age difference don't go for late night parties, or long drives and stuff? Typically myopic viewpoint I feel.

I think more than the age difference what really matters is if the couple's tastes are the same. Even if it is not at least both of them should appreciate the other's tastes and try and spend some time doing what they like. Problems start occuring when either of the two does not happen.

As for Arushi's viewpoint (just read the update not sure what she spoke exactly !) some people enjoy commenting about other's lives.

I think that Arushi just made those comments to take the heat away from her. Bani was going to talk to Jai about the guy she saw Arushi with and so Arushi talked about the age issue to distract Bani.

A couple of generations ago Sangs a gap of 10-15 years was the norm. It is only the present generation which finds age such a hurdle. In any case the maturity level of a man is always lagging behind the woman of the same age so an age gap as such is not a problem. It does become a problem when viewed in the larger perspective of a 40-50 year old relationship like marriage coz when the wife is in her 50's the man is in his 70's and then while one is grappling with the onset of geriatric problems, the other is going thru menopause. 😉 So physically there is a problem, but then a fulfilling relationship transcends the parameters of physicality. As Shakespeare put it ' Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediment..'( one of my faves)
So JB makes sense to me, but there are people like Arushi in this world as well.

Well said, Sangitadas.

I agree with all you said.

After all a man is old as he feels and woman is old as she looks.

The sort of rude Arushi's type is the type that hinders to lead a happy and normal married life but not the age difference marriage of Jai and Bani who are a perfect
happy couple.

Sangs it isn't written anywhere and it isn't an uncommon occurence...Some of the most successful marriage's have a major age difference, Catherine Zeta Jones and Micheal Douglas have, if I am not wrong, a 34 yr age difference...

Closer to home, our grandparents had 10years or more difference between them, mine did, and these are marriages that are 'ideal' for some of us.

Personally I wouldn't go in for someone so much older than me, but that is what we call each to his own...

And for people like Arushi, there is a saying that goes, Kuch toh log kahen ge logon ka kaam hai kehna..

sangs dear i think JB have a age difference of more than 20 years and that is quite a differene and its like generation gap, as in the begining of serial bani was shown to be 21 and while JW was 42+ so my thinking is that they have settled down and are in love, but in real life these type of people may have normal life for few years but time comes when man is 60 and the lady is still in her prime that creates trouble in relationship 😉 if that difference was of 10 years that much diff really does not matter, but JW is twice bani's age 😉 but still i want JB to be together for their love and children

Of course Swathi, its the compatibility that actually determines the relationship between a couple and of course adjustment power. I am keeping love out of the equation for time being.

As for Arushi, ok, another dimiwit has been added to the toli, pregnant with impossibilities. 😉

I would like to add that the maturity of man starts at the age of 40 while woman's fertaility ends usually before the age of 40.

If a man at the age of 70 and is well and healthy, can marry a woman at the age of 20 or 30 and still can produce children.
