Dont think theres any problem for jai and bani anyhows but she was probably meant to be more mature having to had to look after her sisters and the house after her mum died. Jai and bani are in love and despite their problems still together 😊 guess it can work depends on individuals i think it can sometimes cause problem in thinking which we have seen in jai and bani at times

I dont actually like that big a age gap no reason just 10 years seems alot i mean its werid because my chachas like 30 and hes got nieces like 5 years younger and me 9 years so yes i find it really weird 😆 you might be thinking how hes the youngest of 5 having said that5/6 years isnt bad 😛

@ Bolly Guide

We are talking about the age gap issue raised in Kasam Se yesterday...about Jai being so much older to Bani and the problems it can/does raise or does not raise in actual life and in fiction!

Pri and Tin, I don't think any of the JW fans on this forum find anything remotely uncle like about the man😉. Overweight, graying, bearded, whipped, blackmailed, yet we've always rooted for our hero, what say aunties??

Great post Sangs..and agree with your POV!

Age is relative!

A real life example of sucha marriage in Bollywood is the Dilip Kumar - Saira Banu jodi from yesteryears who are still growing strong!! Even though both are aged now the love and respect shine through despite the age difference which I believe is close to 20 years as well!!

It is a relationship of two souls connecting and does not matter how many years one is older than the other!

More power to JB!!

The age debate is a gud thing n it does have its share of plus n minus, so i think they shud play the drama on this line

Yes Sangs I agree, its not rare in India and if I m not wrong, JW has been proved to be a very romantic husband and also taken Bani on long drives and dinners too, so why it was just put across, neither JW or Bani had to feel embarassed for Arushi's comments, rather they should hv given their peace of mind to her 😡

This a wonderful post.. Age is just a number. It is a person's maturity that really defines the person. I know of people who are over 40 and yet behave like kids.. Age difference really matters when one partner is not mature enough to handle a marriage. If both the husband and wife are on a even emotional and mature level, then age is just a number... Long drives and dinners may be romantic for some and surely does not define a marriage.

Sangi et all...great discussion...and one after a long time...so here goes..

Personally to me age is relative. Two of the most successful marriages I have witnessed have been both my grandparents both with 10+ years of age difference.

I remember a time a long time ago, when my maternal grandma was not well and could not make rotis on her own. All my aunts were out due to summer vacations and we were about 5-6 cousins dependent on granny for food. my grandpa who had arthritis could not stand for long and hence his help was limited in the case of a standing kitchen. Yet he did what he could to help her out, he would roll the rotis for her while sitting down on the floor and she would cook them. That was one scene I cannot ever forget and if I have that kind of a relationship with my husband when I am 60 I will consider myself truly lucky. And guess what, this same grandpa survived only for 6 months after he lost his wife (eternal love???).

That said, my other set of grandparents with a 15 year age difference have been very happily married for 64 years now and my grandpa still calls my grandma with a pet name which roughly means "I brought you into my life with a lot of love and hope". I think this is what a marriage should be about.

Like a lot of you have already pointed out, for a successful marriage love, understanding and your willingness to compromise/adjust matters more than the age difference.
