Chapter 9
Ignorance Vs. Arrogance

Raghav looked on as she placed the letter given to her by him, was placed on her desk, completely ignored, as she engrossed herself in her work. Seeing her taking the printout, and leaving her work area in direction of Mr. Rawat's cabin, fuelled the irritation to the extent that he loosened his tie, and stormed out of the cabin in the same direction.

In Mr. Rawat's absence, Kalpana decided to leave the file on his desk, and head for some coffee in cafeteria. Soon enough as she waited for elevator, she felt strong force pulling her in the direction of a corner wall near fire exit stairs, and found herself being trapped between pair of arms. She looked into the eyes of man who had just pulled her and was stunned to find Raghav, standing there angrily staring back at her. She averted her gaze to avoid meeting him, as she tried pulling away into escape, failing miserably everytime as his hands remain firm. "Raghav ..." she spoke up softly atlast looking at him, and within few moments, looked away, "I mean ... Si... Sir" she said. "I have some work! Please let me go and attend the same," Kalpana requested politely, however adding on irritation to Raghav, "It's Raghav..." he reminded, "and I know all the work, that's pending, but how dare you to ignore my request of meeting?" he questioned. Tears formed in her eyes, unable to answer his question for time being. She once again tried pulling his hands away from her sides, and succeeding this time, she escaped through trap, only to be held back as he grasped her wrist before she can increase the distance. She tried wriggling out, as he pulls her closer, "I said, I wanted to talk to you," he demanded not caring about her attempts to leave the hands, and he held her from upper her upper arm confusing Kalpana. She stammered a bit, "Wha... What are you doing Raghav, leave me..." she requested once again, not stopping her failing trials to free herself. He pulls her closer and once pins her to the wall, as he smirks, "I believe, if we can kiss each other, then this closeness shouldn't be any real problem." As his words sinks in she looks at him in surprised, confused... He brings his face closer to hers, as she turns her head in left, not being able to face him, as she recalls events of last night and closes her eyes, and she feels his lips on her left cheek shocking her even more, she hears him whisper, "You have to give me a chance. You have to listen to me," he demanded. Tears roll down her eyes, unable to speak anything, she just hears him, say, "I never wanted to come there, nor did I even want to work as watchman, but ... I had to for I wanted some money, which my dad wouldn't give me without this deal," he said. Kalpi continued looking in other direction as he continued speaking, "I ... I know, I had hidden it all, I can't let world know about this, many people would just react amused about it, they might even laugh at me, for my friends specially I am Raghav Singhaniya, how can I work at such place, and also, ..." he paused, "Also dad didn't want me to get special treatment for being his son, maybe no one would have approved me in first place... It's just... It just had, it had to be secret Kalpi, please understand," he finally gathered up his words, as Kalpana still didn't look at him, he requested her to do so, "please look at me Kalpana! I want you to see truth of what I am saying in my eyes..." Kalpana looked at him in teary eye which seemed to be full of questions, "Why didn't you tell me? I thought we were friends, though now I might not be..." as if reading those questions, Raghav spoke, looking into her eyes, "Neither did I have any intention to hide it from you Kalpana, I ... I just felt," he paused, trying to reorganize the words to match his thoughts, his feelings, "I ... I found one very good friend in you Kalpi, and I somewhere felt I would lose it, when you the truth!" he spoke sincerely. "Kalpi, I know you would never be the person, to befriend someone like me, is also what I have known about you. Hence I still didn't want you to know, I am Raghav, and would like to be known to you as Raghav, and not as son of your employer, or the one who is managing a project in your organization," he requested, Kalpana had no words for now, "I can't..." is all she could say shocking Raghav. Her tears affected Raghav, she removed his hands, "things are too different for me now, I... I need some time, to let things settle in its new perspective," Raghav tried consoling her while going closer, but she stepped away and moved into direction, with tears in her eyes as Raghav just looked on. He banged his hands on wall, hurting himself little, as Kalpana turned back and looked at his hands with little concern, but couldn't go ahead to help him out, instead she just turned and moved away needing some air.

Raghav set there in his cabin, recalling her reactions, and reluctance, which just added on his irritation. "I will speak to her while leaving the building, in evening,..." he thought, "Maybe by then she would be more relaxed, and calm."

On the other hand, Kalpana was no better, "How can I even call him friend? He is son of Harish sir," she thought also recalling his words just few moments back, "I am Raghav Singhaniya,", "People would have made fun of me", were some of his words playing in her mind, "NO!" she thought, "I Also need to tell dad about it, we cannot treat him like a common man, he may go elsewhere... here..." however, Harish's words opposed these forming thoughts, Harish requesting her to not tell anyone, to help him to make his son a better person. It was in his thought of confusions, she got up from her table, and headed towards the list, and with the amount of overlapping thought made her ignorant about surrounding, as she bumped into someone, and feeling irritated, she looked up, "Are you blind?" she asked him. Man, who had dropped his phone picked it up, "No, I am not, I am just on phone, young lady? But it seems you are the blind one here..." he retorted back, his answering back just added annoyance as she was about to say something, man once again puts his phone on ears and continued conversation, "Sorry, Christina, I have reached ..." rest of his words faded away for Kalpana as she tried recalling this familiar name... "Where had she heard it?" Kalpana elicited moments of previous night, "She is girlfriend of Jr. Singhaniya!" is what Raghav had told her. She looked away, and started heading in her direction, "Where are you going now?" she heard that man say, "I thought you were all set to fire back?" he taunted her, Kalpana turned back to face him, "I do not have time nor patience to deal with idiots like you!" Man snapped her, "Do you know who I am?" he questioned, "I am Prem Kapoor, and best friend of Harish Singhaniya's son! You better mind your language," he ordered. Kalpana gave him an angry glare and turned back, feeling uncomfortable and out of place, completely ignoring the Prem Kapoor. Had she been in right state of mind, she might have stayed back and argued with him, but right now, only thing that was on her mind, were Raghav's words "Christina is Jr. Singhaniya's Girlfriend!"
