Scotland have won the toss and have opted to field

Richie Berrington: We're gonna have a bowl first. I think we'd quite like to have a chase this afternoon. Yeah, obviously it's a fantastic opportunity for us. This has been a quick turnaround, but I think everyone's just really excited to be here. There's a real positive feel around the group. I think we're actually scheduled to have fitness testing today. So yeah, to be at Eden Gardens today to start the tournament is going to be fantastic. (on him being a leader, how has it been?) Yeah, look, it's obviously come with a few challenges. There's been a lot of hard work that's gone on behind the scenes to get us all here. But since we've got here, we've had a fantastic week's prep up in Bangalore. So look, I think we're just raring to go and starting the tournament. (on their performances in the last World Cup) Yeah, look, I think we had some really good performances in that last World Cup and we see this again as a fantastic opportunity to show what we can do at the world stage. So there's a lot of experience in this team. They've been here before and we've also got some young players coming into the squad as well, which is really exciting. (on their win vs West Indies in Hobart four years ago) Yeah, obviously really good memories from that day in Hobart, but I think today, you know, we're obviously up against a quality West Indies team, but we know we've got a lot of quality on our side too. So hopefully we can show that in our performance today.

Shai Hope: I haven't won a toss in a long time. Can't remember the last time I did but probably would've bowled as well. (great memories here at Kolkata for West Indies) Yeah, for sure, some great memories. Unfortunately, I wasn't here, but we've got a couple of guys in our camp who've been here and had that experience, so it's something that we can also use and take into our account. (how confident are you to emulate the side of 2016?) You have to be. Every time you cross the line, you've got to think you've got to win, you know, world tournament here again. And it's important for us to have that confidence and belief within ourselves. And I'm sure we can execute today and start our campaign well. (on Hetmyer) Yeah, slightly delayed, but he's in and raring to go. (on him leading this side) Always enjoyed it. Whenever you're representing the region, it's always a great feeling. But for me, it's good to be back in all three formats and contributing. Again, the focus on today. We'd love to be back in Test cricket, but today it's to get this T20 campaign on to a good start.

Netherland and Scotland hardly played any matches against the big guns in their backyards. Yet they are showing some fighting spirit.

They need to get exposure by playing with 2nd tier teams from different test playing nations in different countries.

Cheers..

Sharif to Hetmyer, OUT

McMullen takes a screamer at wide long-on! Great athleticism. That is a stunning catch. Another high full toss from Sharif, swung away into the leg side. McMullen had a lot of work to do, running around to his left, but flung himself towards the ball and snaffled it in his fingertips, inches from the turf! Hetmyer hangs around to see if it's a no-ball on height, but replays confirm it was dipping enough to be deemed legal.

Currie to Rutherford, OUT

safe hands from Jones in the deep! Another slower ball from Currie, Rutherford looks to launch over the off side but his bat turns in his hands. Plinked out to deep cover, where Jones settled underneath it

WI 182-5(20)

CRR:9.1

Innings Break

Brad Currie to Shepherd, no run, good comeback from Currie - goes slower and shorter, bowled into the pitch and Shepherd misses out on the slog. West Indies finish with 182

Brad Currie to Shepherd, SIX, a one-handed swipe and Shepherd gets enough on the shot to clear the straight boundary - was the attempted yorker, but it turned out to be a low full-toss - Shepherd didn't get hold of the shot, but he went back over the bowler's head and his power was enough to clear the men in the deep
