Chapter 10 - I smell someone burning
Kalpana stood outside Mr. Rawat's cabin, and entered on hearing "Come In" from other side. Mr. Rawat smiled at Kalpana, and thanked her for file, "Come now, let me tell you the points for editing, and then you can give this file to Jr. Singhaniya Sir" he said while requesting her to sit. Kalpana's face dropped little, however she managed to put up her obedient side towards Mr. Rawat as duo begun discussing about the project.
Prem knocked on the door, and came inside Raghav's cabin with bright smile on the face. Raghav appeared to be happy seeing his old friend and hugged him and guided him towards chair and he sat in his own office chair on the other side. "So Raghav all set for Mauritious?" he asked settling down opposite Raghav. Raghav nodded with smile, "I am sorry Prem, I won't be able to join in this time!" he said calmly, not caring about shocked face of Prem, who stood up and went towards Raghav, "What? Are you out of your mind Raghav? How can you ditch the plan!" he questioned him bit angrily, but Raghav wasn't really interested in discussing their plans for now, hence countered him by giving his list of reasons, "Point 1, I do not have cash for now, dad won't allow me. Point 2, I need to focus on Rest and Shine project, before I lose out on..." he paused before continuing, "before I lose out on time, Point 3..." but before he can continue, "DO YOU REALIZE YOU WILL LOSE OUT ON CHIS? I mean if you do not PROPOSE HER soon, Joseph will win her heart! And he will have stronger base... for they are apparently from same community..." Prem roared. Had this been Raghav 2 months back, he might have held Prem by his collar for blabbering such things, but this time, he smiled and looked at Prem ... confusing him even more as he commented, "You are smiling? ..." He continued looking at him before adding "Like an Idiot..." Raghav rolled his eyes, "Fine they are meant to be together..." he assured, and getting up he fixed his suite, "as long as he stops flirting and stays serious about Christina!" he pointed out. "Raghav? Are you out of your mind?" Prem asked surprised, "First since when has commitment become so important, and most important, how can you even think that without spending around some time with you Christina should be with Joseph D'Souz? What about your challenge?" he questioned. "Do hell with all," came instant reply from Raghav. Prem rolled his eyes in irritation, "Dude chill,! Fine you don't want to go to Mauritius? Will plan somewhere else!" Raghav looked back at him, "No, I want to plan about this upcoming resort, and then we can have some band session this weekend!" Raghav suggested. Prem smiled looking at Raghav, "Ok Boss! But I am going in for Mauritius Trip," he confirmed. Raghav nodded in yes. Prem settled back in chair, giving up on convincing stubborn Raghav any further, "So tell me about your so called new project!" he said. Raghav happily started talking about it.
Soon enough Kalpana finished her discussion and collecting the file, she settled on her desk to make changes, taking the print out, her eyes started searching for someone who can do her favour of taking the file to Raghav's cabin. She didn't want to go there. However it seemed her luck wasn't really supporting her as most of them were busy with other set of work assigned to them. Taking out the printouts and filing them, she took deep breathe before making her way towards Raghav's cabin. Prem and Raghav had almost been over with their little chat time, when Christina called Prem up, and Prem handed the phone to Raghav, ordering him to inform Christina about his decision to not join the vacation trip. Raghav reluctantly took the phone as he began speaking to her. As he started speaking to Christina, Kalpana too looked at Ramu kaka, wondering if he would have been available or be here in 2 minutes, she would hand him the file to give it to Raghav. But seeing no other option she started walking to Raghav's cabin. Raghav ended the call and handed the phone to Prem. They hugged once again as Raghav wished him good luck and amazing trip, "You still have a month to decide Raghav, all the things we had planned for proposing Chris is still set!" he assured, "You just need to call me..." Raghav smiled at his words and nodded his head from left to right, for Prem's amusing attempts, Kalpana stood out seeing Prem and Raghav talking. "It's 99% No for now..." that's when they heard knock, Raghav looked at the door with grin on his face already guessing the person, "Come In!" he said, and Prem too looked at Raghav however his face dropped seeing Kalpana coming in and decided to ignore her, "So anyways, Raghav... I can still keep my hope on that 1%!" Raghav laughed at his words, "Keep your hopes as you want,... And yes, do take care of Chris... I will catch up with yaa guys soon!" Raghav replied, while Kalpana just stood there standing with file in her hand as Prem too joined Raghav in laughing, "Sure Sure, I will keep every guy away from her..." he replied, hugging Raghav and turning to leave. His eyes met Kalpana and continued glaring at her, he turned before leaving, "Raghav, I think you need to teach some basic manners to your employees first, before even hiring them or training them for work!" he taunted, Kalpana looked up at him angrily, while he was looking at Raghav who gave him confused look and then saw Kalpana looking at him, "Prem I will meet you this weekend, let me get back to work," he requested, gaining attention of Kalpana by his words, and Prem just nodded and left. Kalpana looked at Raghav who told her to have a seat. However Kalpana just stretched her hand to give him file, and wished to leave as soon as possible. Raghav didn't take the file from her, knowing her intentions well, instead went close to her, as she tried avoiding meeting his strong gaze. Raghav smiled at her small set of reactions. He whispered, "We need to talk," in her ears, while Kalpana's grip on file had tightened as her heart ran at highest of it's speed. She gulped down her nervousness and decided to step further more inside the cabin and place the file on desk to run away. However she was too nervous to move an inch. Raghav stepped back with grin still glued to his face, "I need to discuss about this project," he said. "Of course, your finance language won't be my cup of tea, so we will order a tea and talk about all you have mentioned in the file!" he said snatching the file and going back to his seat, while Kalpana just stood there, and on realizing his words, she calmed herself down and sat down on the chair opposite to Raghav across his desk. Raghav dialled number on phone, and asked for 2 cups of tea, which was instantly brought in by Raghav, surprising Kalpana as she thought, "Ramu kaka was so busy about 2 minutes back to bring in the file and now tea..??" and then looked at Raghav as realization dawned upon her. Once Ramu left the cabin, Raghav too got up from his chair, with the file, and went near the Kalpana's seat, pulling out chair right next to her, he handed her the file and dragged his chair even closer to her chair making her feel bit out of place. She looked at Raghav, "Sir..." she said, while trying to get her focus back, but couldn't speak anything further, "Sir, I am feeling hot, can you open the window?" she requested. Raghav slightly laughed, and took the control of Air Condition remote and reduced the temperature even more as Kalpana looked on, "Well I felt this to be normal temperature, but here... I have reduced it just for you..." She didn't have anything more to add, Kalpana looked back file trying to look normal and breathe normally, which was already very difficult. She started blabbering about the list and price they have found out, however Raghav was bend in closer looking at her, and feeling him coming closer she looked back at him. Seeing this he changed direction of his eyes from Kalpi to file in her hand and all she could do was stare at him for couple of seconds admiring his look and seeing Raghav looking at her she continued blabbering about file content, while Raghav continued looking at Kalpana.
It wasn't more than 10 minutes reduced temperature of AC had started affecting Kalpana too an extent, her attention wasn't even being put on the file in hand. She had almost started shivering and placed one of her hand on her other arm, started rubbing gently. Had it been anyone but Raghav, this might have gone unnoticed. Raghav placed his hands on her hand, making her stop reading the file completely; breaking that last thread of patience to stay focused, and keep away any other thoughts. She looked at Raghav, who was already looking at her. On realizing her reaction, he took away his hands, and taking AC remote he brought back temperature to normal and looked at her, within no second their eyes met, she shot that one question she had been asking herself, "Who is Christina? Is she your girlfriend? Like you told me last time she is girlfriend of Jr..." she stopped and opened her eyes wide, while Raghav just kept on looking at her in utter surprise and shock! She placed her hand on her mouth, almost screaming out and got up, "I mean... I mean to say... your trip, umm..." she started stammering, and searching for words, Raghav got up, and held her hands, "Is that jealousy speaking on your behalf?" he asked and "NO!" came the pat reply from Kalpana. "Sir, I need to work on other project of CSW, I believe this file is simple to understand and very clear!" saying so she dashed outside the cabin, while Raghav was left behind with huge and wide smile finally in the whole day after she has known the biggest secret.
Kalpana reached her desk, as quickly as she can and wished she could just disappear, and hide herself somewhere. While Raghav happily tossed himself on his chair in the cabin! "That's it! Why didn't I think about this before? Ohh Chris... You are just the best... love yaa...!! Now I know... how to go about!" he said, smiling like a winner now.
