Known Soul
They first met when they were only toddlers barely able to understand love between two strangers. He remembered going to her 5 years old birthday party, she invited all her friends and classmates over to her house, him being one of them. They became the best of friends since that fateful day as they slowly got to know each other. They went over to each their houses to play until one day they received the news that changed both their lives.
Jalal's family was to migrate to the States where his grandfather was gravely ill and his father had to take over his grandfather's company. Jalal was sad to leave his preschool but more so he was sad to leave Jodha and she in turn was equally grief at the thought of not seeing Jalal anymore.
He promised her as her wiped of her tears saying that he will call and talk to her every day. That promise earned him a smile from her and she took a pinky swear from him telling him that she will be very angry with him if he never calls her. He just replied that that won't happen.
Day and night she waited for his one call but it never came, she wanted to contact him but she didn't have his contact number. She had even forced her parents to take her to his old house but that house was sold to someone else and they didn't know anything about the previous home owner. She spent most of her nights praying to God that Jalal was safe somewhere out there and that he would one day come back for her.
Many years have pass, Jodha had grown into a beautiful young lady ready to go to college. All these years she still remembered a dear friend that once were her everything and somewhere deep within her heart she held that small hope that he misses her as much as she does. Would she ever get to meet him again she didn't know but wherever he is she wished for him to be happy and healthy.
The first day of college, she met many wonderful students and made some lovely friends who were taking the same course as her. As she headed to the library after her classes she came across this guy. She had met him this morning before class and felt a deep tug within her that she can't name. That tug was always there when she sees him. Did she know him she wondered but can't place him for someone she knows.
He had the same feeling as her wondering if he knew her but who was he kidding, last time he was here he was only a toddler and barely remember anyone accept for a pair of brown orbs of a little girl from his past. Why doesn't this girl make me feel as though I know her all my life he wondered as he walked past her to the entrance gate.
Jodha was running late one day for class, she had overslept and missed her bus. As she was at the corner of the hallway, she bumped into a person and fell. She fell atop of the person she crashed into, her eyes closed in shock of falling, she hears the man below her groan out in pain. She slowly opened her eyes to find the guy who was giving her that tug in her heart looking back into her.
She hastily stood up muttering an apology and was about to head to class when he called for her to stop. He called out her name cautiously and her eyes widen as she finally realizes what that tug she always felt when she saw him was. Her heart always knew it was him, her Jalal was finally here standing in front of her. She couldn't stop herself from throwing her arms around his neck crying out his name as he tightened his hold around her with her name on his mouth.
The next few months were of the two of them catching up on old days and Jodha finally finding out the reason why Jalal never called was because he had lost the paper in which she had written her contact number. He told her how much he hated himself for being so stupid but she told him that it was alright for they are where they are because of that as she pressed a kiss to his lips.
After a couple years of dating, Jalal finally popped the question. Jodha was all too happy to agree but she feared how her family would react for both Jalal and her are of different religion. However all her worries were put aside when both her family and Jalal's family were excited about the news. Jalal and Jodha were later surprised when they find out that their family had secretly hoped for their marriage.
And now as Jalal and Jodha looked down upon the crib where their son was fast asleep, they couldn't have been more content with the way their life had turned out.
