smriti, i don't know how u got the connection between the two..the show and the book...but in terms of deep connection between the twins..since i have seen AD since it started and i have also read the book "god of small things" barely two days after it was released in Mumbai **proud look**....i can say that the bond between the bro-sis were way 2 stronger than that of AD..though the show is still in its infancy..but i think it lacks the depth which the book provided..which is quite obvious actually..
as for the book..oh god i loved it so much.i remember taking the book with me everywhere i go..reading it anywhere i get the chance to..it gave u such an insight into the mentality of a Malayali Christain family...and of course the lead protagonist Amu....such a complex character she was..but a pillar of strength to her kids...and her bro ..my fav character (heavily derived from the character of Howard Roark, i think)...but funnily i don't remember Amu and he being directly related..Amu had a elder brother but he was settled abroad na?..but yes the bond Amu and the hero shared right from their childhood was so strong that it was practically scary...and the scene u mentioned the lovemaking one was the highlight of the book..i still remember the scene when Amu sits at the bank of the river.and he comes swimming towards here..so very well written..it didn't at all seem weird or incest..this book made Roy wat she is today..but sadly she never managed to repeat the magic of "god of small things" again..
u know if u really liked this book..den i advice u to read "wuthering heights" too if u haven't yet...its a story of heathcliffe and katherine..and this scaringly strong connection dey share since childhood..which manages to kill one and practically destroys the other..true classic
oh god rachel u hav litralyy spoken my emotions on this book...its one of my proudest possessions...and amuuuuu oh goooood she definately was the epitome of strength and tollerance but wat touched me most about the book was its emotional complexity as u said they were attached with such an intensity that at times it was scary, too tough to imagine....u knw sme people say that they dont find the book worth a bokker's prize but i feel this is roi's best best best creation shes written the story in such a way that u knw it feels shes herself live in the brain and heart of these two characters every emotion every feeling expressed was so damm real she really got into their psychee and thats why i felt all the more awed and connected...and agreeeeeeeeeeed that lovemakiing scene was the height of the book...and its sooooo beautyfullyyyyy marvelously written i mean people end up disgusted at the thought of a bro sis making love but those who can read and apprciate that scene wld understand there was nothing wrong in that scene somethings might be wrong under the protocol but this one thing to me was perhaps one of the very pure expressions of love which had a kind of spiritual binding in it....its much above materialism much above reality itself perhaps and in life there defiantely wld be some moments where all of us wld want to live above reality even if its just for that one moment.....and again agreed rachel roi couldn't ever create another god of small things...but am happy that atleast she gave the world this one beautyful piece of work....
and i saw the whole of AD back to back repeats today and definately they arnt even close to the bro an sis of god of small things that was something unfathomable and i dont think any hinidi tv show can potray that emotion with the equivalent depth and reality, indian tv is too melodramatic to understand the subtle emotions of this book😉......the shw is ok but i wish they dont turn it melodramatic u knw akshat falling in love with amber and u never knw hindi producers they might actly shw him getting maried to her...that wld be a bit over the top.... but i must giv a big big big hand to their mother oh maaan what a splendid acting she realyy stirred my emotions deeplyy i mean i felt so sad for her yet felt so proud that she eventually managed to bring her daughters up and giv them as much support as they needed👏 👏..hats of to the actres shes realy got the power to move people to the coree👏👏
and oh my goooooooooooood are we talking of "wutheringggggggggg heightssssssssssss"....oh my goooooood its one of my fvttestttttttttttt classic everrrrr am a big time classic reader and i lovee this book since i dnt know how manyyy long yearsssssssss...i adored heathcliffe hes been the object of my fantacy for quitee a long long timeeee😳...but smetimes he was way too distructive for even his own self and the passion the zeal with which he loved cathy ultimately brought about the disaster.....smetimes wen the love beoomes too much to bear then it can only ruin lives butt hen in the end their live did survive even if it cldnt be fulfilled mortally.....cathy was an adorableeeeeeeeee darlingggg and such naive and innocent feelings she was so so soo wirth cherishing i loved the way she grew from a shy innocent gurl to a loving caring women who lived up to every role which came her way be it of a daughter or a wife and amidst al this in her heart of hearts she continued to be the gurl whose passion and love had always belonged to heathcliffe since her childhood....😳 ...towards the end the book becomes so damm emotional specially wen her husband dies and she fighting all the way to save him to be with him and at the same time loving another man.......gooooooooosh these books all of them are such vivid vistas of torment emotions....scarlet o hara of gone with the wind is another legend whome i still adoree like helll and rhett oh goooooooooood if all the men were like him thennnnnnnn 😍 😍....no man can ever love a woman the way rhett loved scarlet😍...
u hav put me in a wave of nostalgia these are like my all time cherished booooks and its great to see that there are people who can appreciate their wonder😳
