What is the difference...

...between mukhda and antara?

how does one recognizes it?

"Mukhda" is the beginning of the song, and "Antara" is the paragraph(s)..

Mukhda is the face of a song which gets repeated several times in a song mostly has same lines.

Antara follows Mukhda and are stanzas with different lines.

This is general definition. There are exceptions too.

Mukhda and Antara are called pallavi and anupallavi in Carnatic music.

Mukhda or Sthayi is the starting stanza of the songs and notes are usually in the middle or low octaves. This stanza gets repeated after singing any subsequent stanzas.

The Antara is the second or subsequent stanza which moves usually at higher notes compared to Sthayi or Mukhda.
