Is Saif using reverse psychology to make Phantom work in India?

Phantom didn't have much buzz and was pretty much written off. The trailer looked meh.

Saif and Kabir Khan were most likely under no delusions when they were making this film. With films like Gadar being banned there, it was a foregone conclusion that this film would never work there even if it wasn't banned.

So by making his recent statements, which in themselves are pretty innocuous, is Saif making a last ditch attempt to save the film.

Some people are sure going to have their passions ignited and might flock to theatres to watch this mediocre amateurish film, (I love Gadar btw, so do not make assumptions) in an attempt to support Saif's statements or something.

A recent example of an immensely mediocre film doing well by creating controversy is PK. I know some IF members consider that film as an epoch in film making. well, not everybody shares their brouhaha.

Dekho bhai dekho. Kat bahut logon ki pasand hai isliye toh abhi tak bolly mein hai. 😆 I will just watch Baby or true Lies to see the real face of terrorism. Or even Gadar which is a far better film. 😆

Obviously. This film would have flopped miserably otherwise. Bollywood runs on hype and gimmick lately.

Exactly. Pretty sure they knew the film wouldn't work in Pakistan at the scripting stage itself. Why create a controversy now? Only because the film's trailer has been almost universally disliked on social media.

PK was far from an epic. LOL.. While I liked the story, the acting was mediocre and Anushka's face was terrible.

That said, I will watch Phantom, mostly because of the Pakistani backlash and also because the story seems somewhat interesting. I like action films in general. I didn't know much about the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks so been reading up on that.

Katrina is a big downside, her face and Hindi is annoying.

Let's see in the coming days. They've created enough controversy and it will be a real shame if they laugh all the way to the bank. When are people going to see how these morons play with their sentiments to make money.

Of course they knew that. 😆😆 Why would Pakistan allow an anti-Pakistani film to in it's theaters. I don't think people are annoyed with that, they're annoyed because the appeals were filed by a known terrorist.
