salman only spent a small fraction of his years in indore by the time he was 5 he was living in Mumbai.
relations within the family were not nice. his father was a monster terrorizing mom and kids. his mother's family except for his mothers younger brother i.e. maternal uncle (who was present when he was born in indore) had nothing to do with them until sohail was born. growing up between two cultures was also confusing to him initially.
mother used to sneak out to temples with kids and especially salman in tow.
by the time he was 7/8 family relations normalized and his mothers family was regular at their house including his maternal grandparents.
salma used to take her kids to her paternal home in mahim all the time to escape salim's rageful fits.
when salim's partnership broke off, he took to heavy drinking and took all his frustration out on his family.
so no, everything was not bloomy and glossy.
his relationship with his father was also difficult as salman was rebellious as a child, to top it off he wasn't very studious so salim always beat the shit out of him due to him taking up for salma and in his teenage years a party animal.
