How I wish this was the headline for real!

Retroactive Filmfare Awards for the years 1986 and 1987

As some of you know, Filmfare didn't host the annual award ceremony for the movies released in year 1986 and 1987. Thanks to ShylockHolmes we know the reason. (look at the post below)

Because of this unfortunate event, some of the worthy movies and performances were not recognized in those years. Since Filmfare never bothered to do a retro-active recognition for the same in the years after that pause, I wanted to let the IF Film Critics Community 😉 do the needful and recognize the talent.

I know some of you were not even born then but hoping a few members exist who grew up watching 80s cinema either in that decade or later. I will be doing some research and setting up some polls for the following categories in the upcoming weeks.

1986 and 1987
Best Film (incl. Director)
Best Actor
Best Actress
Best Music
Best Playback Singer (Male)
Best Playback Singer (FeMale)

Where possible, I will set-up nomination clips (You Tube references) and you will have the opportunity to vote for the best among 5 nominees in each of the category.

CALL FOR VOTERS

For people who are familiar with 80s cinemas, it will be nostalgic to go back and select. While for people who skipped that decade, it will be educational and they will make their selection as well. Everyone is encouraged to participate.

I will start with the year 1986 and depending on the response, extend to 1987.

Please share your thoughts. I think this will be very unique for the forum.

The winners for the year 1985 were announced in 1986 and the event was scheduled to be held at the Brabourne Stadium in December 1986. Unfortunately the Bombay film Industry, as was known then went on strike in '86 because of its many contentious issues with the Maharasthra Government. So the ceremony was pushed to the next year. The winners of 1985 were awarded on 28 January 1987. Due to Security reasons, filmfare was not awarded for 1987 and 1988

Thanks for demystifying. What a bummer!

Would conducting a mock film fare award polling for the movies in 86 and 87 be a good idea here? I would love to set it up.😳

Atleast IF recognize the best of those years👍🏼
