He should stop watching Hakla khans movies. I also felt the same after watching Crappy New Year.

F7 and jurassic world did more then akshay's 2 big releases this year IN INDIA , which is not good for akshay since he is in Top 5 stars .

Agree...if BW continues to compromise on script, the situation will get only worse. A lot of HW movies have earned really well in India of late...

Yes he is right...HW is definitely a threat. Who will watch a lame BW over a well made HW one? Esp in the action genre? BW has to really up its game in such genres. But yeah HW is no threat when it comes to films on relationships.

For blockbuster hw is eating up
And content driven movie zone are eaten up by regional movies.
Bw need to reinvent itself and most importantly stop piling ugly looking star kids on us to sustain

The only thing I want to ad is that I also disagree with him that Hollywood doesn't make movies about relationships and Bollywood should concentrate on that. Hollywood certainly does every genre and frankly their family or relationship dramas are much more relatable than their Hindi counterparts. It kind of goes back to what Arsal said, Hollywood is just ahead in quality not just in terms of special effects for superhero or actions flicks but also content and story when it comes to drama and story driven movies. Bollywood tends to make dramatic movies too dramatic and, well, filmi for lack of a better word here. More DCH and less K3G would go a long way.

Then there is a matter of appreciation from within. Come award season and Hollywood is all about content and acting and it is rare that a high budget big movie wins the awards. In Bollywood it's the exact opposite. So there is very little support for real story driven and content driven cinema. Awards and praise seems to just get recycled within a very specific and restricted group of elite.

Hollywood does make those movies but yeah they are not common or that much out there. So I agree with you there.


Movies like DCH, Lagaan, Udaan, RDB, Haider, Ugly, Talaash is what we need. Diverse and intrestings subjects and BW should do fine in its own accord.

But the problem is that those are so few and far b/w. There is no diversity at all. Each thing is the same.Badlapur, DBB, Piku, Masan and Drishyam are only ones this year, that I have heard of that stand out with their screenplays. And we are what around 60 movies in the year.

Where are the action/suspence thrillers, dramas etc. There are hundreds of stories you can tell but no, nobody bothers. Look at how Hirani showed such a unique concept with Aliens and all in just 70 or so crores.

That is the problem. And the less said about awards the better. They are a complete farce. But another excellent point you have got there. If they were like what they are here; atleast that will give the filmmakers something to strive towards and hence you will get quality products.

In India only Hollywood action films do well, like MI series, Avengers etc..etc..Very few people watch movies like Imitation Game or Whiplash in the theatres. So I don't know how Hollywood is eating up Bollywood's business. Some movies are doing well here in India but along with that even Bollywood movies are doing tremendous business. People preferred to watch Piku over Mad Max.

Even when we speak of action films, Didn't D3 do tremendous business despite being utter lame? 😆 Hollywood movies are doing good business but I don't think there's anything for Bollywood movies to be afraid of that business, as they are doing exceptionally well for themselves.

Only HW action/superhero/franchise movies work in India

Definately as Hollywood produces blockbusters specially in action and children's movies. Bollywood has never given movies like Harry Potter series, Frozen or minons. Bollywood only copies and pastes content from everywhere and expect people to like a collage when they can get good quality authentic stuff. If Bollywood does not improves then no one will watch the crappy hindi movies which are pathetic copy of a regional film.
