Recap: Episode One (NACH BEAT)

So after months of preparations Nach Baliye finally hit our television screens last night. But just in case you missed it we have a recap of all the good (and the not so good) moments from last night.

Things started of with Ishaa Koppikar showing us why she is one of the most popular dancers in Bollywood. Dancing to some of her hit songs Koppikar clearly showed why she deserved to take a seat on the judges' panel. Then it was time for ace choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant to show us her moves. Enough and more has been said about the lady who has Bollywood's best dancing to her tunes and therefore it was no surprise that when she took the dance floor last night everyone was left nothing short of being mesmerised. And finally the third judge David Dhawan took to the podium and it was nice to see him in a different role.

Thing began with Sweta and her gora, Alexx O'Neill, who pleased everyone with their performance. Completely at ease and looking absolutely cute the duo looked very good together. Then came Karan and Amita who managed to get things going but their momentum wasn't as good as it could be and the couple had to settle for 17 points.

Then it was time for one of the most awaited couples of the competition – Rakhi Sawant and Abhishek Awasthi. Perfectly co-ordinated and with their immense chemistry it was no wonder then that the couple received the second highest points last night. Shakti and Shivangi Kapoor did not give stellar performances but for their age they were quite good.

Amita Sethi was definitely very nervous as she and hubby, Vikas, took the floors but his moves definitely helped both of them. If Amita is able to get over her nervousness and constant injuries then the couple can definitely give strong competition to the rest.

Karan Grover and Kavita Kaushik were good without a doubt. But with a little more practise they can move to a much higher level. The hard work that they have put in definitely showed even last night but if they want to reach to the top then a lot more practise – especially from Karan – is needed.

Sanjeeda Sheikh and Amir Ali are going to be the surprise couple of this week. Quiet and always out of any controversy this couple is very likely to be that surprise element that many may overlook at the start. This performance was followed by the picture perfect performance by Kashmeera Shah and Krushna Abhishek. The perfect score was well deserved. The last two couples – Kiran & Ritu Janjani and Pooja Bedi & Hinaf Hilal – gave good performances but in comparison to the other eight they did leave a lot to be desired.

All in all the show last night was fun and definitely made you feel that the season ahead was going to be very interesting!
