Mantu and Amu, its perhaps one of the best developed love stories on television. their love story is so natural that i can put myself in their shoes and feel comfortable wearing it. their love story isn't the ott passion that makes my skin feel uncomfortably tingly, like I'm breaching privacy. but its the kind of passion that warms my heart and touches my soul. this is the first story of a couple on indian tv where the guy doesn't need to heavy breathe on the girl or look at her with smoldering eyes to make me feel the love, i can feel it in mantu's affection and in amu's devotion. theres a guy, simple good human being, he's funny and he's charismatic and loved by all. yet theres no alpha male complex. his responsibilities have made him grounded but he's talented and dreams of greatness someday. he's a bit clueless and a bi dense about the opposite sex but whats a man without his flaws. and then theres the girl, a rich father's comfortable child, whose known nothing but her every desire being fulfilled before the word left her mouth but brought down by the bitter taste of misfortune. the amu that started haughty and naughty but never vapid is now understanding, nurturing and accepting of everything but still a fighter to the core. someone who can do ANYTHING. the most interesting thing is the backdrop of shiv bhakti that ties mantu with amu. they remind me of mahadev and sati-parvati journey of DKDM. mantu actually embodies many qualities of a vairagya mahadev- complete in himself and his only goal is the betterment of the world, for mantu its the betterment of his world his city, no connection with samsarik politics or understanding of the moh of women. and amaya mathur was like sati, prideful and immature but fiercely protective of her loved ones and gradually that love made her turn to mahadev, to mantu and she evolved into the mata parvati version of amaya, the way she is now- a devotee to her God, to her love and to her family. letting go of her id, not asking for anything in return and not taking any shortcuts. taking on whatever role they need her to take- whether its a friend, a confidante, a protector, a provider, a disciple, a nurturer or a guide; just like mata parvati. and its working, her shiv is coming out of his self-imposed detachment from romantic love and falling deep. its a slow process and I've never enjoyed one so much before. I'm damned excited for it to progress!
