The Ragini that could have been

By the way, this is a long post about Swara and Ragini. Lakshya and Sanskaar are merely names in passing. Read only if you want to read about something other than the much discussed SwarYa/RagYa/SanGini/Swaraan.

Urghh...am I the only one on this forum that does not want to any drastic romantic involvement (ie. marriage)? I want to see the angles of the story that the CVs haven't touched upon because they needed a few shapes of love (triangles, squares, etc.).

Ragini's character had potential.
She lost a music competition due to a fear of not being good enough. The appropriate story would've been to grow out of that fear and win her place in another music thing legitimately. Because, let's face it - no one has that friend who will hand down their victory on a silver platter just because "Dadi ma naaraz hogayi."

She could've united the reluctant Swara and madly in love Lakshya...but no. Her character had to take that 180 degree to become an obsessed and dangerous psycho.

And all the while, they were too busy making a flawless female out of Swara.

First, Swara finds out about her father, then Swara is insulted by Gadodias and Maheshwaris, then Swara ("out of the goodness of her heart") exposes Lakshya, then Swara is kidnapped, then Swara exposes Dadi (by risking her life by falling from 10 feet off above the ground), then Swara becomes the love interest of the present male lead, then Swara cannot live with being the love interest of the main lead because of her sister (once again, out of the goodness of heart), then Swara is all set to marry the love of her life alongside being subject to mental torture through unknown drugs and now Swara is likely to once again become the love interest of the second male lead introduced in to the show.

Amazing story, right? But where the heck does Ragini of Swaragini feature in all of this? Either a background name like earlier or with no sense of good and evil like now.

The only worthwhile scene there has been of Ragini was when she confronted Maheshwari.

While earlier, I could relate myself to Swara's character, now it seems impossible because she seems to have become the reincarnation of her Durga ma itself (not intended to hurt anyone's sentiments). Because right now, no one can relate to the good girl gone evil in Ragini or the unlimited greatness within Swara.

Literally, if Sanskaar does fall in love with Swara, I think CVs might as well just shut down the shop because it's not going to work. If Ragini hadn't been twisted so badly by the CVs, then Swaragini could've worked out in favour of this forum and the majority of viewers - with the right pairs, watchable storylines and believable characters.

I just don't understand why you people think that Sanskaar will fall for Swara?

Its just Swara attacked directly on his feelings.. now he is seeing himself in Swara.. not kavita in Swara.. He is guilty that in this revenge game he dragged innocent soul nothing else..

There is no love feeling and will never be..
Care feeling may develop as he ll be Swara's brother in law..

Swara is best ever written character.. so is Laksh..

I agree!!
The point is not that the cvs kept on glorifying Swara but the main point here is the way cvs ignored Ragini...Swara has always been in limelight, the character is taken care of while writing & seems to b the only one. Ragini always lacked something or the other, she was never complete.
The way the plots got twisted it just shows how unprepared the cvs or rather the PH has been regarding this show. And if they were prepared then they finalised a wrong title & gave a wrong theme of the show in the begining.
The worst thing is that they were not able to maintain the balance from the very begining. They way Swara's & Lakshya's characters have developed...it seems somewhat logical but the turn Ragini's character has taken is just insensible. I watched a certain scene of one of the epiisodes & got scared of Ragini, the way she behaved was not normal...
& after seeing Ragini's behaviour, Swara is & will be getting all the sympathies (i feel bad for Swara as she is being victimised without any fault of hers & this creates more hatred for Ragini)

This act of Ragini is much more than being negative...her character is beyond repair now...nothing in this universe can justify Ragini's act...no she cannot b forgiven...

We hav already witnessed worst tracks till now & the worst of all this worst will be cvs showing a romantic angle b/w Swara & Sanskar (although it doesnt seem to b believable)...& if it happens then this show should actually shut.

For whom the makers want the audience be loyal to in this serial...this serial failed to justify its own title...No SwaRagini...after giving months to develop SwarYa...no SwarYa...after giving interactions b/w SanGini...no SanGini...after intoducing Ragini as the protagonist...making Ragini the worst possible antagonist.
Now when the makers are not showing any loyality then why would tge viewrs b loyal to this show.

Other shows in the same slot seems to b much more better...some are already having fixed high positions on the trp charts & those which are getting lauched are attractive & seems to b larger than life...the time slot is mych more competitive & nobody will accept the continuing nonsense shown in this show.

Completely agree and a well written post.

To me, what Ragini could've and should've been was displayed in the epi right before Ragini got 'kidnapped' and her character changed.

I still remember in that epi, she kindly and sweetly did everything and tried to make SwarYa come close together. She admitted to Dadi/ Shomi that she still liked Laksh but she was trying to move on. She returned Laksh's bracelet to him and talked with him.

She was docile, gentle, but firm. She wasn't brash, bold, or in your face like Swara. It was actually really wonderful to see and I remember being so happy after seeing that epi because that was what I thought Ragini's character was like.

CVs have completley butchered her character over some stupid need to have her become the villain.

I desperately wanted to see Ragini picking herself up and starting again. Learning to be more independent. Learning to be able to talk to boys without being so self-conscious. Learning to be more confident, etc. I didn't want to see her become a clone of Sanskaar and a twisted version of Swara.

Speaking of whom, I also agree with you on Swara's transformation. Swara has become way too much of a Mary Sue and I don't appreciate it.

Honestly, even the entire SwarYa story doesn't make sense to me anymore. Laksh doens't even know how much Swara likes him. Technically, even we viewers don't know. All we see is like second-long scenes of Swara wanting to talk to him/ saying she loves him. Whereas comparitively, we've seen quite a few scenes of Laksh actually showing his love towards her.

To me, the best written character is probably Laksh. He's the only one in the show who I root for these days. (along with Dida because she's just awesome)

I'm just so disappointed by this show. It started off so well and now has turned into this shit-fest. I feel like the CVs need a reality check. Weren't the TRPs like comparitively higher when the show first started, esp compared to now? They need to realize that drama seen within SNS, SKK isn't going to immediately work here.

@ishu and Laila: well said!
where is the love in swaragini or swarya? theres no usp to this show. what are viewers suppose to look forward to? 20 minutes of psycho followed by a 1 minute swarya or rather swara scene? the cvs forgot that ssk and sns are old timer shows. people started watching them and now are just stuck due to loyalty. not cos they love the story. but for a new show, it needs to capture the pulse point of the audience now. the ghisa pita drama that worked then isn't working with this show. your right isha. the trp used to be high 2 and 3s in the beginning cos both youth and parents liked where the show was going. they were bringing up issues and resolving them at a good speed but that one day that lasted 2 weeks KILLED it. its been a crapfest since.

We people think Sanskaar will fall for Swara because of the article that stated the same when Varun Kapoor was roped in for the show. Ragini doesn't feel sorry for what she's doing to her sister but an outsider does. Where could that possibly lead to? And trust me, I don't think anyone wants that.

That's exactly my point - Swara IS best ever character written...completely unreal. I can't fault Lakshya - he seems sane and sensible.

Thanks. And completely accurate - the creatives themselves don't know what they want out of this show they've so inaptly named Swaragini. I remember that promo where Lakshya was saying "main aur Swaragini..." Something about uniting Dadi and Dida - THAT was the storyline I wanted to watch and thus was loyal to this show. But even then, it was Swara and Lakshya, not even Ragini.

Like you said about the other shows - might as well just watch something more bearable.

if by chance ragya marriage happened due 2 witch curse , not 2 tell who will cure ragini naturally its swara . after marriage if by chance ragini turns into +ve character , will definitely try 2 end this so called ragya marriage then I bet swara mahan will not let her do that. I like ragya but I m not biased 2 them , I wanted ragya only if ragini is positive. well I like logical stories. CVS have wasted ragini's character. no offence 2 anyone. m fine with any jodi.

Ragini - docile, gentle but firm. Love that! She has her own way of handling things - the only times she doesn't is when Dadi and family step in (eg. The music show, the rishta with Lakshya). Ragini's stand to help the rugged and almost murderous Sanskaar was one of her high points - no Swara was required. I cried when my brother's friend and me were alone in his car because my brother couldn't get out of arrivals on time and we couldn't leave the car. Imagine what I would've done if he held a knife to my throat?

Had they introduced Swaragini as a supernatural fest like Sasural Simar Ka, then maybe we might not be complaining so much. Because we knew what we were in for. But they've just changed the whole show through the transformation of one character...one very crucial character to the show.

Thank you. There is nothing to this show - no sense, no logic, no romance, no...nothing. The only thing I see is Sanskaar and Ragini digging their graves deeper and deeper every passing day.

Swara and Lakhya could have had the most romantic time of their lives (which SwarYa fans would appreciate) if Ragini hadn't become so self absorbed (which Swaragini fans would appreciate). But they're not developing either - Swara and Ragini are on their respective missions with Ragini as a terrorist and Swara as bomb disposal. And Sanskaar could've been the boon in Ragini's less confident and boost needing life.

The TRPs? Doesn't that send out a message to the creatives?? - what they used to be? What they are now?
