It was the first thing that came to my mind. Backdrop is similar. Both stories are based in Gujarat. Both are about a common man who aspires to be rich and powerful. Both characters start from the bottom and work their way to the top of their respective businesses. Guru's character was not averse to using unethical means if it helped him succeed, ans SRKs character seems the same, maybe with more grey shades. I know its a small teaser and there would be many things different in the movie. But based solely on the first look, two movies do share a lot of similarities.

I loved Guru, probably only Abhishek film that I liked, he was fab as Gurukanth Desai. Hoping Raees will be good too.

No..probably Caz shahrukh is much much better actor than Abhisek, let's not insult him.

And yes , now that I think about it .it could be compare to amitabhs act in sarkar.

I am not comparing the actors. I am only comparing background,story and characters. Abhishek may not be a very good actor, but Guru was one of the few movies where he delivered.

subhash nagare was way more subtle in his actions, very il dialoguebaazi

"mujhe jo sahi age woh main karta hu"

For some reason, it reminded me 80's Tamil movie Nayagan which was directed by Mani Ratnam and Kamal Hasan in lead role... Raees gave me similar vibes..

It did. The word Baniya & business only reminded me of Guru. More so because it is based in Gujarat.

Abhi's best role so far as Gurukanth Desai. He may have used some shrewd techniques to go up the ladder fast but, Guru's business wasnt' illegal.

But SRK's business itself is illegal. He looks more bad-ass. That voice did it for me. The was he says 'Daring' sound like 'Dering'. Killer. He got Gujju tone of speaking English so well. I could just tell by 'dering' 😆
