Thanks Abhay, for sharing this wonderful piece of information.😊.
Abhay I am dying to know your views about the present track. I know you are keeping busy but please share your thoughts whenever you can.
Unlike most of my forum friends I am not at all happy with this track. The only bright spot is Rajat's performance.

Thanks, Srilu, for your gracious words 😊 I do try and watch the show as and when possible ever since the Laboni track ended.
I want to express my views on the track but keeping quiet on second thoughts. My views are pretty different and not likely to be acceptable to many here. 😊

Most historical chronicles were written by men in those days and they did not give much importance to the harem members, even queens. Possibly they knew very little of what the women did , in any case. 😊 In any case, they relied upon the emperor to dictate what would ultimately be recorded and how.

This is the difference between the writing of men and women. If we read Gulbadan Begum's account, we get a clear picture of life in the harem because she had the advantage of being an insider. 😊

Thank you Radhika.

I guess, even though women played a major role in the royal court and definitely within the Imperial harem, there was a certain protocol that was followed when it came to documentation of important events, involving their presence. Makes sense, as disappointed as I am, I have to accept it. 😔

Very nice post Abhay. I read some where that once AKBAR while talking to his mother, he is opposing SANUR alliance because Maanbai is not capable of handling an ambitious NUR as she is not that much intelligent n tactful person like MUZ. This statement really gives us his opinion about his wife n his affection for his DIL. he always considered MUZ as an equal to him. He really loved MB as his own daughter. Its really rare to find a FIL that too an Emperor like AKBAR having these kind of feelings for his DIL. That's why he was very upset after her suicide n he didn't forgive SA quite easily. This marriage really gives us an idea about his feelings towards MUZ n her family.

Hi Abhay, wonderful and informative post. I remember the description of this wedding when reading the Akbarnama. Of all the weddings mentioned there were two that Abdul Fazl has taken particular care to describe: First Akbars marraige to MUZ and then the wonderful description of this wedding of Salim and Manbai. If I recall I dont think the Akbarnama describes any other wedding of Salim's in such a joyous fashion. Clearly Akbar was delighted with this alliance.

This is a fascinating post. Thank you.

Maan Bai has always appeared to me as a romantic and tragic figure. The above narration shows that Akbar had a special daughterly regard for her. Any wonder then, that her son Khusrau was so favored by Akbar to be the next Emperor, in case Salim did not repent.

Donjas,
I have same opinion about Maan Bai.!

I also wonder , how would our past have been had we got people like Khusrau and Dara Shukoh as Emperors.! Though, Salim and Aurangzeb also fared well.
