Seriously it was really really boring. Arjun had no clue what he was doing. His interaction with Jacquline was so bad. Ranveer literally carried the whole show on his own. East India Comedy guys wrote the script but everybody knows that when it comes to comedy execution is main. Ranveer looked like he tried too hard.
I didn't see the performances as I find them too boring, so can't comment on them.

But the biggest LOL was when Arjun was nominated for best actor. I was like W*F guys, don't make it obvious that awards are completely faked and biased.

Awards r fake n biased is foregone conclusion. If Aamir were to anchor the even or if even be present in the front raw... PK wud have been showered with 10s of awards.
But its all abt show,, perfrmances,,, and Hrithik nailed.. nope, not for an award... just love for dancing.

It was pretty bad. I found both Ranveer and Arjun over the top. There should be a good balance of comedy and seriousness.

Only thing I liked was HR's dance.

SK Jha agrees:

The IIFA Awards... Not funny!

Subhash K Jha

There was a time when the IIFA was meant to be the Indian cinema's ambassador in the global arena. The annual event was meant to connect Indian cinema (not Bollywood, mind you!) to non-Indian audiences outside India. Amitabh Bachchan was chosen to be the brand ambassador. Fifteen years later, the spark and the will to take Indian cinema abroad is gone, and so is the Big B.

It is just a pricey jamboree. The most showy and tawdry aspects of Bollywood flaunted before fans who think Hrithik Roshan doing Tiger Shroff's steps is a sign of continuity and renewal in showbiz. This year, the awards touched a new low in credibility with A-lister actors and actresses being squeezed into the Best Actor and Best Actress categories simply because they were there.

Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor as hosts did everything possible to win the crowds. They took swipes at box office-challenged stars and directors in the audience. The duo made fun of one another's flops. And their own film together, Gunday. Same tired jokes. Blame the poor script, but Kapoor and Singh came across as unqualified to hold an audience's attention for three hours. Bring back Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani.

And yes, even Ranveer's rumoured relationship with a certain Ms Padukone became fodder for entertainment when Ranveer stared coyly at the alleged lady love while the title song from Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai played in the background. And then the actors crib about the paparazzi violating their privacy.

Everyone hammed, blowing kisses to the local Malaysian population, speaking in their language as they were instructed to do by the organisers with the possibility of a pay-cut if the stars didn't do their bit for local tourism (oh, dear!).

The one bright spot was the Outstanding Contribution' award to Subhash Ghai. That too was marred by some overacting by Ghai's protg Anil Kapoor, who screamed his appreciation of his mentor so hard. Jackie Shroff said his quiet thanks to Ghai and slipped away. He forgot. Awards functions are not about subtlety and underplaying. They are all about attention-grabbing gimmicks.

Ajay Upset!

One hears that the dig at Ajay Devgn's Action Jackson by host Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh has not gone down well with the actor. Says a source close to the actor, "Bollywood award shows have become means of making mean jokes about actors who don't attend. It all started with Shah Rukh Khan-Saif Ali Khan hosting a film award function, but the jokes delivered by them weren't in bad taste because they made fun of their contemporaries or youngsters. Never their seniors. The industry has not liked Arjun and Ranveer making fun of their seniors, and therein lies the problem. They should have had more restraint. especially after they got so much flack for their AIB roast. It's just not done." Now wait for the Singham to roar!

I haven't seen the award but i keep reading people congratulating these two as if they've never seen an award or comedy. Its really weird.🤔
and im wondering is the award that good, that they are getting praised everywhere on twitter & fb as if its such a big deal??🤔

It certainly wasn't the best IIFA I have seen. Arjun and Ranveer's intro was a copy of Billy Crystal's Oscar hosting intro except this time effects were very badly done.
The only really funny part was when Ranveer showed how Bollywood actors act around a Hollywood celeb as opposed to how they feel.

Jacky Shroff was actually very sweet in his tribute to Subhash Ghai. Anil obviously was channeling Ranveer 😆. I wish Arjun and Ranveer hadn't added their end part about growing up on his movies and making everyone dance on stage. I know their intention was good, but it seemed like they were making Subhash Ghai's moment about themselves.

IT WAS HORRIBLE !
Ranveer a wannabe and arjun a loser, they were the worst hosts ever, the performances were so lame !!!

everything was just bad !!!!

and ranveer-deepika's relatiosnhip nautanki was pathetc, at each award show they attend they make sure to make some nautanki intentionally just to get 5 minute of cheap publicity ! they are really despos.

They're getting praised by THEIR fans only ..general viewers don't agree. The reviews are mostly negative.
