Who was a bigger star in the 1990s- Madhuri or Sridevi?

Sridevi was dwindling in the 90's while Mathari Madhuri peaked in the late 80's and continued until the first half of the 90's.
As for who was more popular? Madhuri in the 90's for sure but even her reign stopped after 95/96/97/98/99
with the Karishma's, Aishwarya's, Kajol's etc taking over basically the younger lot.

Madhuri the bigger star.
Sridevi the better actor.

Agree but Sri was giving big openings in movies like army gumraah, laadla. By 88 madhuri was not no.1 as she played second fiddle to Sonam and sangeeta. She has nothing memorable in 80s apart from 1 song. Her peak years were from 91 till 1995. The difference is madhuri needed box office success to be called no.1 while sridevi was still no.1 with her performance driven films like Lamhe, laadla. When Sri gave anil hit he wasn't a big star, when madhuri worked with anil he was already a big established hero.

I watched Sadma of Sridevi and it is one of my fav.Sach main endig scene Sadma de dega.I really felt bad when Sridevi said ''Lagta hai koi pagal hai" to Kamal Hasan.
