While we usually see characters decked up in heavy costumes and ornaments, what will set this show apart is its simplicity. Karn's most prized possession 'Kavach' plays an important role in his journey and has been intricately designed to bring out the character. Since Karn's journey was filled with travel, the locations and weather also play an important role in deciding the look.
For the female characters, Radha and Kunti, their backgrounds played a big part. While one belonged to a royal family, the other was from schedule caste. Since not much information is available on Radha, the designers had to use their imagination to design her look.
During the era of Mahabharata, stitching was not yet known, so the styles include fabrics being draped around. Even for the jewellery, a lot of raw material has been used. Use of real pearls and rubies in the pieces adorned by Kunti further enhance her royal look.
