When i'm in Canada, i feel this is what the world should be like - Jane Fonda.

National Anthem - "O Canada"

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing heart we see thee rise,
The true North Strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada we stand on guard for thee.

In a world darkened by ethnic conflicts that tear nations apart, Canada stands as a model of how people of different cultures can live and work together in peace, prosperity, and mutual respect - Bill Clinton.

"Canada day" is the national day of Canada.British North America Act, 1867 got enacted on 1st of July 1867. Originally it was named as "Dominion Day". Canada became a kingdom in its own right on that day. The occasion marks the joining of British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and the Province of Canada into a federation of four provinces (the province of Canada being divided into Ontario and Quebec).

The day was celebrated with the ringing of the bells at the Cathedral Church of St. James in Toronto. However the holiday was not established statutory until may 15, 1879. In 1946, the Quebec member of House of Commons, introduced a private members bill to rename Dominion Day as "Canada Day", which was passed by House of Commons but stalled by Senate. On October 27, 1982, after much arguments among the learned people and the politicians, the day was renamed as Canada Day.

The American revolution was a beginning, not a consummation - Woodrow Wilson

National Anthem -"The Star-spangled Banner"

O say can you see by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

Then join hand in hand, brave Americans we all!
By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall - John Dickinson

Independence Day, is the National Day of United States, commonly known as Fourth of July or July Fourth, commemorating the adoption of the declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, from Great Britain. Its a federal holiday.

During American Revolution, the legal separation of the thirteen colonies from Great Britain occurred on July 2, 1776, which were at war with Great Britain. A resolution of Independence had been proposed by Richard Henry Lee in June and the second Continental Congress voted to approve it and declared United States independent from Great Britain. The American Revolution was the first outbreak of the contagion of sovereignty that has swept the world.

As per the custom, Congress appointed a committee to draft a Preamble, which stated that because King George had rejected reconciliation and was hiring foreign mercenaries to use against the colonies,"it is necessary that exercise of every authority under the said crown should be totally suppressed.

Here is what the crazy creatives have to say about what independence means to them.

BabbaR_SheR
Independence is to have freedom of thought/choice. One should be free from all the societal obligations; so that he/she can do whatever he/she thinks fit/right. Society is hurdle in life especially in India🥱. So i still don't feel that i have the freedom to do anything or everything because I reside in India😔.

thegameison

Personally, independence is everything to me. It is a very individualistic concept for me. Personal freedom in terms of what to be like, what to wear, what to eat, what to study etc is what interests me. I need the freedom to be who I am irrespective of what everyone else is. That's independence for me, to just be myself.

xbeyondwordsx

Independence is being able to chase your dreams and aspirations. It's about being able to hold an opinion and not justify yourself for that opinion. It's about living your life the way you choose to do so. Basically, independence, to me, is being yourself without having to justify yourself.

Angel-Jot.

Independence is freedom. The right to have a choice and a say.

Abhinaya08
To me, independence is the freedom of choice. To be able to do what you want or speak your mind and not be controlled or judged.

Independence for me is freedom to do anything that I wish, to speak my mind without any restriction or without being judged.

Now you tell us! What does independence mean to you?
