Salman Khan and legal troubles go hand in hand, or so it seems. As if the 2002 hit-and-run case and 1998 black buck case was not enough, now there is one more case hanging over his head.
Vijay Galani, producer of Salman starrer Veer: An Epic Love Story of a Warrior' who filed a defamation suit against the actor has sued him for a huge sum of Rs 250 crore, according to reports.
The producer said that on Salman's insistence he had agreed to produce Veer' and gave the actor a signing amount of Rs 10 crore. Besides, both also had an agreement that the actor would be paid Rs 15 crore if and when the film makes profit, Galani told an entertainment portal.
After completion the film was sold to Eros Entertainment, the producer said and added, "Eros, Salman and I drew up a tri-party agreement that the first overflow (profit) amount of Rs 15 crore would go to Salman."
However, the film which released in January 2010 was a huge flop. Galani said that he received a letter from Salman's office in April that year stating that the actor found the Rs 15 crore overflow' agreement unacceptable.
He further stated that Salman had approached CINTAA (the Cine & TV Artistes Association) with the agreement, which initially ruled in his favour but, to please the actor, it issued a non-cooperation letter against the producer, who called it invalid and baseless.
Galani who then appealed to the court said, "The honourable court saw my papers. They called Salman's representative to court and asked on what basis they had been asking for money and why was a non-cooperation letter issued against me. They had no reply. The court has now ruled in my favour and issued an absolute stay on the non-cooperation letter."
"I cannot tell you what I've gone through during the last three years .My mental agony and the money on lawyers has left me drained. I've filed a defamation case against Salman and sued him for Rs 250 crore for mental agony, harassment, loss of face," Galani said.
