Scene 1
The episode begins in a mall. The CID team comprising of our duo, Purvi, Jayawanti, Pankaj, Nikhil and Vansh arrives and starts examining the corpse of a man there (now this is what I like. The team arriving on duty right from scene one 😃). They note that the victim has been shot to death, the bullet still in the body and there are no other apparent signs of injury. Abhijeet sir points out small hole marks around the circumference of the bullet wound. Daya sir retrieves his wallet and identifies him as one Manit, resident of Andheri. Purvi questions the bystanders and is told which direction Manit was walking in when he was shot. A security guard says he had been seated in that very direction and he didn't see anyone there or hear any gunshot; they only found out about the murder when the victim screamed. Daya sir says the gun might've had a silencer. The guards say that the victim had been gesturing at a girl before dying, and they've forcefully detained this girl for questioning. Nikhil comes up saying the CCTV footage is ready.
Scene 2
Two ward boys bring in Manit's body into the forensic lab. Dr. Salunkhe asks them which CID officer sent it there, and one of them says it was Inspector Daya (darn it FW, can we at least get the designations correct, please? 🥱). Salunkhe sir sends them off, and discusses with Dr. Tarika about how the CID team has gotten arrogant and is taking the forensics department for granted. 🤢 🤢 He tells her to act as though no body was ever sent into the lab. 🥱
Scene 3
Our duo, Nikhil and Jaya are seen examining the CCTV footage. Abhijeet sir observes Manit entering a shop with a bag, which is missing when he exits from there. Daya sir says he could've forgotten it inside. He sees Manit talking on phone and points out that they didn't find the phone near his body. Jaya says someone in the crowd might've stolen it. They observe footage of the killing scene from various angles and Abhijeet sir points out that the suspected girl had been handling something inside her bag right before Manit collided with her, and he pointed straight at her before collapsing. Abhijeet sir says she might've hidden the gun in her bag, and shot him.
Scene 4
The same team questions the girl Shikha, who insists she's innocent. Daya sir checks her bag and finds that it's intact, meaning she couldn't have fired a gun from within it. Abhijeet sir demands why she tried to run away; she says she got scared after she collided with this unknown man and he began to bleed and point at her, so she thought everyone will consider her the killer. She recalls that before colliding with her, he had been talking to someone on phone about a bag, and then ran into her, began to bleed and dropped the phone. Abhijeet sir asks her not to leave the city until the investigation is complete, and allows her to go before deciding to visit the shop they saw Manit entering.
Scene 5
The same team visits the clothes showroom in question and Abhijeet sir asks Nikhil and Jaya to search the place for the bag. The shop guy says they don't know anything about the bag. The duo asks what the guy had been doing in the shop. One of the employees says he had chosen shirt, tried it out in the changing room and returned saying he didn't like it. The cops check the changing room, but the bag isn't to be found there or anywhere else in the shop. They wonder who took it, and what it had contained. Daya sir says one of the customers who entered the changing room after Manit must've taken the bag. Abhijeet sir asks him to check the CCTV footage of the shop and takes the others with him to Manit's house.
Scene 6
Abhijeet sir, Sachin sir, Jaya and Vansh visit Manit's house, which turns out to be vacant. They find no clues about the possible contents of the bag, but Abhijeet sir sees a (badly Photoshopped) photo of Manit with a lady, who seems to be his wife. They wonder where she is and if she knows about his murder. They talk to some neighbours, who know nothing about her. At this point Manit's stepbrother Sandeep and his wife Kirti arrive there. Sandeep is shocked to learn about the murder, but Kirti is coldly indifferent and says that Manit had betrayed them and usurped the family property. She also says he must've had many enemies as he might've ripped off several people. Sandeep scolds her and supports Manit. He says Manit used to live with his wife Jiya and her parents, and his sister Neha. Abhijeet sir asks Jaya to have all these people summoned to the bureau.
Scene 7
In the lab, Dr. Salunkhe examines Manit's wound and after observing it closely, realizes that he's not been shot as they had been thinking all along. He shows this revelation to Dr. Tarika and proceeds to inform the CID team. Tarika reminds him that they're supposed to pretend no body ever came there, but Salunkhe sir says duty should come before emotions. (Something sensible at last.)
Scene 8
In the control room, Purvi di shows the shop's CCTV footage to Daya sir, Nikhil and Pankaj. They observe Manit entering the shop with the bag, going into the changing room and emerging from it without the bag, before returning the shirt and exiting the shop. Several customers enter and exit the changing room, without the bag in sight. Eventually a couple arrives and the man enters and exits the changing room after a long time, with shopping bags in hand. The shop owner says this guy had been saying he needed to go somewhere and so got a change of clothes. Daya sir says he must've hidden Manit's bag in his own shopping bag and taken it away. He notices the man paying up via credit card and smiles with satisfaction for obvious reasons (cap worthy moment 😃).
Scene 9
In the bureau, Abhijeet sir, Sachin sir and others console Jiya's parents and assure them that Manit's murderer will be captured and punished. They are hesitant to say anything about Jiya. When Abhijeet sir encourages them, they reveal that Jiya has been kidnapped by some unknown people who threatened them to not inform the police, and Manit had been going to the mall with 30 lakh rupees as ransom. Neha arrives in great distress and is shocked to learn about Manit's murder. She accuses Jiya's parents of the murder. Sachin sir receives Manit's call records and they discover that he was being frequently called from two days by one Amar, who has been convicted of murder and recently released from jail. Abhijeet sir says they need to meet this guy.
Scene 10
Back in the control room, Daya sir says the couple clearly knew about the bag and its contents, that's why they pretended to be customers and took it away. Purvi says they could be the kidnappers themselves too. Daya sir asks Nikhil to find out the man's identity via the credit card number and call him over without revealing who they are. He also asks Pankaj to find out if Manit's bag was scanned upon entering the mall, and why nobody questioned him about the money. Purvi wonders why Manit was murdered when he already had been giving over ransom. Daya sir says the killer's motive seems not to be kidnapping alone. Nikhil comes over saying he's called the couple to meet them, without revealing their intent. Pankaj finds out that the guard in charge of the scanning machine has been missing since Manit's murder, and isn't answering his phone. Daya sir concludes that he's involved as well.
Scene 11
Abhijeet sir, Sachin sir and Jaya corner and question Amar, who's shocked to learn about Manit's murder and Jiya's kidnapping. He says Manit was his college friend and had given a false testimony against him and gotten him jailed for harassing a girl named Anita, whom he didn't even know, and thus he was calling Manit to confront him and demand why he did this. He adds that he met Anita after being released from jail, and she told him that Manit had offered to get her a big modeling contract if she helped him in getting Amar jailed. Abhijeet sir asks for her address.
Scene 12
The couple from the shop drives up to a lonely place and calls out to whoever called them there (aka Nikhil as we know), saying they're ready to pay up in exchange for the CCTV footage of the shop. The CID team comprising of ACP sir, Daya sir, Purvi, Nikhil and Pakaj turns up and nabs them. They say they know nothing about Jiya's whereabouts, and they were only asked to pick up the bag from the mall, and tonight the unknown person(s) who hired them will call to inform where to deliver the bag and receive their payment.
Scene 13
Salunkhe sir arrives at the bureau and asks about the progress of the case. Abhijeet sir says they're close to nabbing the man who shot Manit and kidnapped Jiya. Salunkhe sir informs that Manit wasn't shot at all. He explains how Manit had a pacemaker installed in his heart, and persons with this device are not to go around metal scanners or radiation as it liberates hydrogen from the device and causes it to explode (sorry, but I at least have never heard of this latter part about hydrogen. Hope anyone with more experience can confirm 😕). Jaya says that the wound looked identical to a bullet hole. Salunkhe sir explains that normally a pacemaker exploding apparently causes tiny holes around the heart, but this one exploded powerfully and caused a wound resembling that caused by a bullet (they lost me here, again ). He also adds that this will happen within2-3 minutes of passing a metal scanner/radiation. Abhijeet sir says they need to check the scanner in the clothes showroom.
Scene 14
Abhijeet sir, Jaya and Vansh get the scanning device in the showroom examined, and the technician discovers that there has been an additional wire installed there which causes the emitted radiation from the device to intensify. The store employees claim to know nothing about it. Abhijeet sir suspects the missing watchman and says that whoever did it was clearly close to Manit and knew about his pacemaker.
Scene 15
We see Jiya being held hostage by some gundas on a rooftop, bound and gagged in a wheelchair which is held in place by a rope. The leader says that they're just waiting to get the ransom money, and will then kill her anyway to prevent her from blabbing about them to the CID. Another gunda comes up saying their money is here, and they go downstairs to meet the couple who hand over the bag. The leader decides to call their boss. At this moment, team ACP arrives to apprehend them. A gunfight breaks out (must say a nicely filmed one 👏) and eventually Daya sir disarms the leader, who runs upstairs and starts severing the rope holding Jiya's wheelchair in place. Daya sir goes after him and manages to push her out of harm's way in time, but himself topples over the edge. The others rush up concerned about him, but it's revealed he managed to hold onto the ledge and is helped up. He laments that the leader escaped, but ACP sir says they'll nab him. Purvi unties Jiya, who's in awful condition. ACP sir asks for her to be taken to the hospital.
Scene 16
Jiya awakens in the hospital and starts asking for Manit. The doctor says that it would be good for her if they called Manit. Pankaj tells him about Manit's death. ACP sir tentatively tells Jiya that they've called Manit there and asks her who the kidnapper is. Jiya screams that he'll kill her, and then goes unconscious. ACP sir decides to visit her later and instructs Ishita to stay guard there and not let anyone near Jiya.
Scene 17
Abhijeet sir, Sachin sir and Jaya meet Anita who confirms that she was misled by Manit's false promises and Amar is actually innocent. She says that Amar had come to meet her along with another lady whose face was concealed and who gave her a gift. She hands over the still unopened gift to them, purchased from one Star Souvenirs. Abhijeet sir says that this lady clearly was linked with both Amar and Manit, and decides to enquire at the gift shop.
Scene 18
The same team turns up to meet Shikha, who tries to flee but is captured. She says she only assisted the person who's behind all this.
Scene 19
In the hospital, the doctor sends Ishita to get some medicines, and we see Jiya stealthily opening her eyes once alone. ACP sir and others arrive to find her bed vacant. Ishita returns and explains what happened. ACP sir scolds her and instructs everyone to start looking for Jiya. Eventually they find and catch her outside the hospital premises. She says she's doing it to fix some mistake of hers. Suddenly Daya sir spots a biker preparing to shoot her in the distance, and pushes her down right on time. The biker flees and is pursued by the team. They eventually arrive in a lonely area and dismount to find him. The man rushes them with his bike and starts charging it at them as though it were a wild bull. ACP sir shoots down the bike and puts an end to his rodeo. The man's helmet is pulled off and he's revealed to be Sandeep, Manit's stepbrother. ACP sir hands him a tight slap.
Jiya reveals that she found out post marriage that Manit is a foul man. She used to love Amar, but Manit got him wrongly accused and jailed, and married her after provoking her against Amar. After Amar told her the truth following his release, Jiya decided to kill Manit for revenge and enlisted Sandeep's help. However, Sandeep became greedy for the ransom money and tried to kill her for real. ACP sir condemns their deeds and says they'll now be imprisoned and likely executed for the same.
THE END
(Honestly speaking, the story and investigation were good enough despite some loopholes, and it was great to see the trio and team in proper investigation. I just didn't like the forensics vs. CID thing and I hope that track is discontinued before it causes any real damage.)
